  • #91 checking in...SFD today :)

Had a great night with friends last night, lots of fun and games, and despite cooking for ten, it cost us less than a fiver! We had a net gain of alcohol too ;) DD's mates all stayed over, so it was nice waking up to a houseful today, especially nice now they are nearly teens and don't wake too early! They were excited by pancakes for breakfast which used up the last of my reduced-on-xmas-eve-milk :D

Refllected earlier, but pre-LB, I think I would have easily spent £50 plus buying stuff for a big gathering like that. I did feel a little on edge as everything was so carefully calculated that there was no 'spare' anything - felt very much like I was holding my nerve. Bur guests arrived with what they said they'd bring and were lovely :)

Quiet day today, DD to the theatre (a xmas gift to her from mates). I passed on going and did some jobs at home instead. I love the theatre but it seemed best to pass this time. We had some quality time tonight instead and watched Sherlock on iplayer. DD's just growing into the same things as me, but we dont have a TV so we only sit down and watch something together a few times a month - makes it seem like a big event when we do. I then splurged on loads of iplayer TV after she'd gone to bed, but I did get all my ironing done, ready for our paying guests to arrive tomorrow evening. Heres to another SFD tomorrow, hopefully!

SFD 3/20 here today, after spend day yesterday. Went to IKEA and used a gift card I got when I moved, meaning I only spent £10.25 - and finally got a bedside table. Cardboard box chic is so 2013! Then headed to Sainsbo's but used £6 of survey-reward luncheon vouchers, so only spent 68p :)

Sandycheeks have my sympathy with yr FIL, my sister has had vascular dementia last 10 years heartbreaking for the family to go through, and it gets a whole lot worse. Stress has been unbearable.
Hope everything is settled down now.

After two spendy days, today was SFD 2/20 :money:

DH tried his best to take it from me but I rejected! Picked up my car from garage having dropped it in (& paid) yesterday for its radiator replacing. It had been leaking for months, so bit the bullet having got some money from relatives for Christmas- seemed a reasonable way to spend £200. When I collected it today the garage man informed me that they'd re-gases my a/c as they have to remove that to get at the radiator. Bonus! It's been needing regassing for 2 summers now, but I've refused to fork out £40-60 for it.

I went to see my poor Mum who has a chest infection. And DH went off to SD.com shop. Avoidance is key for me. I have limited self control in any shop. I have then spent this evening doing some advertising, promotion and website creating for my 2nd job. Yesterday I took on two new clients making £70. Hurrah. I need to be more proactive in 2nd job to make it worthwhile, so time invested is good. :T

DH wanted to go out tonight. I said I didn't want to (on a SFD! And limited alcohol!). He stropped somewhat and said "We didn't go out last night. It's Saturday night!". So I contacted a friend to see if we could go round there (with our own alcohol). She agreed and said she'd even pick us up. DH's response. "I don't want to go round to someone's house with a carry-out!" (he's NI, that's what they call BYOB over there). Felt like I couldn't win really. Anyway, Alcohol FDs- 4/28:p

All this choc swap talk is making me laugh. When I was at my Mums she offered me her remaining QSs- happened to be all the ones I like! :rotfl:

Keep sharing, all very enlightening (debt and life stories, not choc swaps :p)

    Morning All

Thanks thrifty - I will freeze some noodles for lunches :)

Got to cancel yesterday's SFD. I was to quick off the mark!

We ran out of milk so I sent Hubby to the shop with the cash for 2 x milk and mushrooms - £3.00 spent, and I bought a kindle book on meal planning for 77p. I will let you know if it is any good when I have read it.

I am intending a meal plan for the month and been making a list of possible meals making sure to use some go the stuff that has been lurking. I have 14 meals so far.

Didn't do my avon last night so must do that today as I am back to work tomorrow and can do deiveries/drop books while M is at beavers tomorrow night. I think I may have bought some things for me but can't remember! I need to sort my paperwork out and do my tax return too, not a fun job. I am determined to be more organised and proactive with avon this year.

Instead of the avon, we had a picnic tea in the lounge - party food from the freezer, cheese and biscuits, pickles, salad and tinned potatoes. To full for cake! We watched a film called Daddy Day Care which was very funny and had Eddie Murphy in it. Then I read some of the Hobbit to M at bedtime and was asleep by 10.30pm. Flipping cat woke me at 2.30am and then 6am grrrrr! I have already had a cuppa and 2 hobnobs and the rest of the house is still sleeping.

Time to put the kettle on, avon boxes await!
