Hi Everybody,
I went shopping today so my run of SFDs ended but 3 so far isn't bad, especially since the last time I spent any money was on the 23rd December! So that was 11 days in a row without spending so much as a penny. I was checking out the OS board and they call that sort of thing a fiscal fast, where you either set a period of time not to spend anything at all or go for as long as you can. I will try that again, although it might be harder since I am aware of it and it will not be a holiday period.
I have decided that any busfares when I go food shopping will come out of my spends budget as it is too much to lose from the food budget.
I bought a drink to break a £10 note for the busfare £4.20, spent £7 in Sainsb*ry's, £12.45 in B&* and a grand total of £1.97 in Tes*o, the shop came to £36.07, but with coupons ended at £1.97 so happy.
I bought some pine dowels in B&* to fix my bed, some of the metal cylindrical slats have broken. I was in a dilemma, do I replace my bed for new, try to glue back the slats (which I kept), or just have a painful and uneven sleep. I am hoping I have saved my bed and some money for just £12.45 and some sawing (I have to saw the dowels to the correct size). I had tried gluing but as the slats were hollow the glue wasn't working, I will try tomorrow fingers crossed.
I am going to try upping my income online instead of picking up extra shifts at work, the problem is getting in to a routine. Today I watched tv, gone shopping, had something to eat, watched more tv (you have to watch the whole of Come Dine with Me, when there is a contestant you don't like just to see if they win or come last) and browsing MSE. I really need to log in each day perhaps twice a day to make steady progress. Obviously there is still time today but I just need to tear myself away from MSE...Debt-Free day 30th September 20140 -
Splodge I have sold books on amaz0n. Text books and cookery books. I found the service pretty good and used the credit to pay towards Xmas presents:)FMess wrote:I've sold books on Amaz0n but this can take a while, you list them and then wait for a buyer. I think the listing is valid for a year, and you are only charged if they sell.
I have also sold to Amaz0n on their trade-in scheme. I really liked this as you type in the barcode, they give you a price, you choose whether to accept, and then print off a postage label and drop them at the post office. The prices vary (some as low as 25p for new current books) but I was really pleased with some of the prices they offered for some of my books.
Did you find the fees prices to be generally acceptable? I am intrigued by both systems. I'm off to investigateThank you both

I thought the fees were quite high on Amaz0n and if you are selling a low priced item, or have to drop the price to ensure you are the lowest priced seller, then it obviously affects your return. The trade-in doesn't have any charges associated with it, but the price for the books is set by Amaz0on.LBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

What type of coupons do you use? I need to get back in to couponing but find it takes so much time.LBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

We were just joking the other day about setting up some national 'rosesbay' where people could exchange their uneaten ones for other's favourites!
I think you should organise this, I would love a 'rosesbay' but we also have a glut of coconuts from QS boxes and eclairs from mini heroes. Any takes?LBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

I'm guessing you and your Dh weren't eligible to much help (benefits) given that you were students at the time of his illness? If that was the case I'm saddened by such a state of affairs that lands young people in debt as a result of illness just because they are young (e.g. Students and not working). It does sound like whatever the unfairness you have handled it very well indeed. Is your Dh now completely well?
We weren't entitled to anything at the time as we had not yet started working life. It was horrendous at the time and like you say landed us in huge debt but it really was the making of us on reflection as we really had to pull together. Fingers crossed as always, hubby has now been clear since early 2000:T:T:T:T:T

Four days in and managing to resist the lure of the January sales. Had an expensive shopping day as DD2 has gone back to uni and needed her freezer filling but will try and go under budget over the next couple of weeks to compensate. Did quite a big shop in Farm Foods and bought veggie stuff for DD2 . . . . shocked a little later on to see the Birds Eye veggie fingers purchased from FFoods for 75p were £1.70 in Sainsbobs! Farm Foods must be making a profit at selling them at 75p so what a massive profit margins is being chalked up by Sainsbobs!!

Hello everybody, hope your weekend is going well.
I've had a lazy day today and watched The Horse Whisperer and now waiting for Dave Allen to come on.
My first NSD today and think I;ll be clocking a few more up next week.
Managed to get a mystery shopping job for Monday so that will be another £10 off one of the debts.
My debts are paid back at a token payment each month. I arranged this with the 4 creditors when I had to finish work through ill health. I'm hoping to pay them all a bit more each month by getting some mystery shopping jobs and really cutting back on what I spend (thanks to you and all your good ideas)
I've got £200 in a savings account for emergencies and add a bit to this each month.
I've decided, with your help, to use the £80 to pay off the smallest debt first. Then I'll work on the next one, until one day, I'll be debt free apart from the mortgage.
I can't remember who asked, but no,I'm not related to BeckyBoo.
Enjoy your weekend.NSK Zombie # SFD 7/15 Food Bank £0/£5
