Happy New Year!!!
How are you all, lovely people??? Its page 11 already!!!
Well today is SFD 2, I finished 3 nights this morning and am safely ensconced under the bed covers. I have been up once for breakfast/ mid afternoon coffee and feed the feline but that's it for my activity levels for another couple of hours.
Have sorted my spends as follows -
Food £100
Petrol £150
Other £100 - car service tomorrow Gulp!!!
Presents £80 - Far too many gorgeous friends getting older this month.
Toiletries £5 - theres still a bottle of showergel from 2013's mountain. Although Xmas saw the mountain peak again which should see me through to Easter. Alledgelly, Eggs have been spotted in one SM already. Seriouslly!!!
My aims with the debt now is CC will be paid off by 27th Jan and my mortgage will be paid off by September 2nd. Loan gone by April Fools day 2015 and then I WILL be DEBT FREE!!
I have also started a money box for loose change, and do not want to touch it until January 1st 2015. Thought about getting one of the tins, but as I have 4 boxes gathering several layers of dust, I thought best put them to use.
Can I also say BECKYBOO, your daughter is amazing and a inspiration.

Had a NSD today. I'll need bread, milk and a few bits tomorrow, but we still have a lot in from Christmas. I was ill and whilst that was horrid, it has done wonders for not putting on weight and for having food left over, lol!
Helped DH with some DIY too, so that's something we won't need the builder for.
What I love about MSE in general and this challenge in particular, is that it makes me really think about spending. It started with not just frittering, became delaying purchases and now I'm beginning to really think about whether I even want them at all."Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful." Hi everyone!
It looks like everyone is making a super start to this challenge (and the NY!)
I've updated my signature - a 2nd SFD for me today, plus I've taught so an extra £30 for the pot :j

2. Food budget £12.22/£200
Yesterday I spent £2.16 in Asda, today it was 88p in Morrisons and £9.18 in Aldi.
I'm now stocked on cat litter for at least the next ten days and we've got enough milk to last around five days, so hoping to keep the spends down in the meantime.0 -
CariadsNewStart wrote: »CariadsNewStart - who would the gifts be for if you did go to Boots..? Do you have a plan or is this a "just in case" stock pile - do you actually like the people you would buy for cause I say just stop altogether..
Hmm I like your way of thinking, I have actually got a lil planned list but have cropped a lot off the list and now practically talked myself out of buying anything til summer at least, I have 3 cards that are stressing me out far more than an empty gift cupboard !!
How do you all manage your spending amounts, do you have a set amount to spend a month? or just don't count that day as a SFD..?
I have just paid my first payment off Park hampers for this year so can't count today but I know come school days I will have silly things to pay like fruit money for school etc could I just set aside say £50 for whole months spends(£10 a week) and dip in and out of that as necessary but would that lose those my SFD CLAIM LOL Or should I just pay out everything I know needs paying on 1 day a week and get it over with hmmm ...:rotfl:
I am not counting any of the days my direct debits go out as spend days or the kids activities as these are all budgeted for and I would fail every month on SFD if I counted them. I am counting things like extra trips to the supermarket, calling at the shop for crisps etc, days out etc and all other unnecessary spending.
Beckyboo - well done to your daughter.
MrsGSR - hope you feel better soon, I work from home on my own and it gets really lonely, I am dreading Tuesday when everyone is back to work and school.
NSD yesterday but had a spend day today, paid £3.50 for car parking so we could go for a long walk at a particularly lovely spot, we could have gone somewhere else but they have a lovely shop there and my Mum had asked me to get her two of their woollen blankets. We took a flask and snacks so no other spending, not bad for me as I would normally have bought hot chocolates and cakes.
Exercise 2/15, went for a 40 minute walk yesterday and 90 minutes today.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Beckyboo I am very impressed with Beckyboo junior's mature attitude to money and work at 15. Her independent, level headed, responsible and disciplined qualities not only puts her in good financial stead but will help her succeed in other areas later on in life as well :T

We managed to get out to see Frozen - after 30 mins of pesky adverts! nsk, this was dd's first ever cinema visit and it's a recently released film, so no chance of reductions! We could've gone to another cinema for a little less money, but adding on the extra buses both ways plus not then having the guaranteee of getting back for my doc appointment, we went for the easy option. Buying once there instead of online did save £1.40 in booking fees, but it still cost a whopping £14.60. Ouch! Tho took own snacks - both need gluten-free food, so cinema food's a big no-no!
Having spent once, we wandered along the market (tatoes) and 1celand (milk, plus yogs and glutenised bread for sis + niece coming to stay for a few days tonight).
However, it has been another sugar and grain free day - tummy feels tighter already! The benefits of this really kick in after 3 days for me, so if I can do 5 on the trot, I,ll be so chuffed!:jNST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0
