    can I join in please?

I need to save as much as I can as I hope to (no I will be) moving house at the end of March at the latest and then I can concentrate on my debts. Would do debts first but I'm leaving a bad relationship so need to move out first once i get the money for rent, bond and admin fees together.

    Iwillsucceeed - £160 saving for a moment of embarrassment...well worth it ! ;)
  • Happy new year everyone, sorry its a day late. SFD number 2 for me today as I haven't left the house for the last two days and not planning to until Saturday, so will hopefully rack up another one tomorrow :j.

Have added my budgets, total debt and DFD to my signature as requested Kat.

I'm also on day 2 of not smoking. Yesterday was easier than today but have sorted out all my debts, got my envelopes ready and my spending diary is in my bag.

I am hoping to come in under budget on all except petrol as I use the car for work.

The exercise will commence when I go back to work on Monday as I do quite a physical job, to me anyway :rotfl: and I will count that as exercise. I daren't do anymore as I think I will just fade away. Probably about 8st now and hardly ever put any on no matter how hard I try.

I have de-cluttered from top to bottom while I have been on holiday and have found a few things that can go on e-bay. The only other place to sort now is under the stairs aka Narnia. Wish me luck :rotfl:.
    TOTAL DEBT - £10866.22/£450.06 PAID O/S £10416.16
CC - £174.69 - The rest is a family loan and other debts which are 0%

  • CariadsNewStart - who would the gifts be for if you did go to Boots..? Do you have a plan or is this a "just in case" stock pile - do you actually like the people you would buy for cause I say just stop altogether..

Hmm I like your way of thinking, I have actually got a lil planned list but have cropped a lot off the list and now practically talked myself out of buying anything til summer at least, I have 3 cards that are stressing me out far more than an empty gift cupboard !!

How do you all manage your spending amounts, do you have a set amount to spend a month? or just don't count that day as a SFD..?

I have just paid my first payment off Park hampers for this year so can't count today but I know come school days I will have silly things to pay like fruit money for school etc could I just set aside say £50 for whole months spends(£10 a week) and dip in and out of that as necessary but would that lose those my SFD CLAIM LOL Or should I just pay out everything I know needs paying on 1 day a week and get it over with hmmm ...:rotfl:

This is a LOT to deal with! Are you seeing someone about it though - for a chat on a professional level as opposed to just friends... I am worried about you know stuck indoors all day with no support if OH is out all day - how old are the littles?? How does the debt busting work - does it help you or adds more burden? Please by all means tell me to mind my own by the way.........

Ôh not at all, it's very kind that you are thinking of me, I really appreciate it too. I have a telephone appointment for consuelling in the next few days so things are happening. Also I haven't seen my friends for over a month due to various illnesses and they are a lifeline for me, finally we have agreed on a date for our meal out (which I have arranged so I can budget for it :p)

Debt busting actually really helps, I sat here while Ds was napping and DD was playing tea parties with her toys and reworked everything out with my personal budget allowing for the meal and DSs birthday (he is 2 in a few weeks!) And I feel so much better for it, I know where I am at now, ok so my account will have £30 left in it by pay day but that's better than -£30 I guess! Our joint account is looking really good and my CC is coming down quick. So yes knowing I am in control actually helps me. Planning for treats makes me appreciate them so much more too.

I feel a bit bad that I can't afford much for DS's birthday but he has had piles of stuff for Christmas so I've asked one set of grandparents to buy him new shoes and a coat and the other set to buy him some pjs and we are going to have a day out to the forest with a picnic and DD wants to help make a cake, I'm thinking a lovely day out is more enriching than more plastic!

I'm really only stuck in due to the weather and the fact I can't afford a lot of petrol and that it's school holidays, once DD goes back (she's 4 and a half) and we get back into our groups and activities things will start getting better (i hope)

  • Hi first post of this challenge first SFD yesterday but SD today as needed bread, milk so also bought couple of gift sets for my kids. (We don't celebrate Christmas but have decided to have present day at end of Jan so buying a couple of small gifts to go with their main present)

Have updated my signature with spend days, budget etc. also first time I have actually wrote down the figures of our debt.

First day back at work today so after reading on here have applied for a 0% BT card which is 0% for 30 months so hopefully this will be approved.

0/5 downshift brands - I have already switched to all grocery shopping from ald! So can't downshift further

Lunch to work is an easy one for me as I love having LO for lunch :-) so always take my own lunch.

Have also spent time over the hols filling in my budget planner and for he first time ever have actually started to put money aside for car maintain acne, tax, holidays (camping hol booked to include nieces wedding) and a naughty center parcs break but being very MSE the cost has been divided between those going so very cheap and will take all food with us as we previously did.

Need to loose weight had hysterectomy in Oct and have piled on the pounds with being in house for so long but rather than join a slimming club me and my work colleague (only 2 of us work in office) have decided to support each other and I bought my scales from home in and we are going to do our own FREE weigh in each week :-)

This is rather a long post so will keep upto date with reading everyone's posts and will check in tomorrow

Wow, its busy on here today! MrsGSR - Hugs, it sounds like a tough time. BeckyBoo1980 - wow, you are right to be proud of your daughter! Well done her! She'll hopefully have a good attitude to money all her life now.

SFD here, and been for the promised run so feeling pretty good. Cake for DH in the oven so not a sugar free day as I can't resist eating the mix as I go. Naughty (slap hand). I had stopped making cakes for him as I eat too much mix and then nibble at the cake too, but he was very good and didn't buy another big tin of roses chocolates today so I promised to make him a coffee cake as a reward as we have all the ingredients in the house and it would not impact on a SFD. A little bit of bribery for a SFD! ;)

Going to have a little sit down with a cuppa (of hot water - mse and caffeine and dairy free!) and then crack on with tidying out cupboards in the bedroom in a while.

Crazycatlady - haha, I love the the idea of the cat being away with the fairies! I am amazed neither our kitty or cat have destroyed the tree - not even one bauble out of place. Although I did find the kitten trying to eat pine needles the other day!
