    :hello: Hello,

First off all congratulations Pheonix to being now DF :T:T.

Today will be another SFD. Cycled to work in rain and wind, not nice. Started my application for changing my bank account but need to pop into a branch this week to show proof of my identity. So hopefully sometime in February I should be 100 quid better off. Once that's done I will also change all my other accounts, ISA and kid's saver over.

Looking fwd to February. It's my birthday in the middle (don't think I'll do much though) and it's a short month. Don't think I can save much as I want to pay off my CC (put parents flight on and won't get that money back till May). But still, it's the last month of calm before the storm i.e. before frugalmite number 2 arrives. Got everything we need just need to organise and tidy a bit.

    Have a nice day

:j:j:j Go PhoeniX :j:j:j Congratulations!! :j:j:j What a weight off your shoulders!

Am nabbing another NSD as have come home from work early cos am poorly. I felt extremely bleurgh this morning, so only had water and a few sips of black coffee. My face had flared up and gone all hot and patchy red, so coupling that with my innards being unhappy, I thought I must have eaten something that disagreed with me. But I'd eaten nowt I'd not had before, so ingesting gluten was unlikely. Anyhow, water and coffee only so far, and am feeling and looking better. Now to snooze on the sofa with a hot water bottle and blanket.

On the way home from work I toyed with stopping to buy Luc0zade. Then thought about wasting an NSD plus drinking sugar, thus losing a sugar-free day too! Didn't take long to make a decision.

Thanks for putting up Feb kat. It's a cracker!

  • Well now - I have been wasting the day looking at prepping sites, Cotswold Outdoors for my new walking shoes and rucksack and generally got lost in the day! Now it's home time.

Managed to book Friday off work as I need to pack and order a "man with a van" and possibly look for a cheap push bike before moving so I can use the van to transport said bike. My £600 hybrid is going back to my employer. I don't want to take responsibility for it outside a station.

Cinema tonight to see "12 Years a Slave" although going to try and nip into town to get my coat repaired (the zip went) as it's my massively comfortable outdoorsy coat that cost my Pa a fortune! And possibly have a look at the sale items of waterproofs in Millets - they are having a massive sale.

Have sent all my ebay packages and returned postage fees. Withdrew a tenner as I was desperate and still have at least £75 in there. So that pays for my rucksack!..Whoop! Now just need to get the stupid website to load... it include 6.5% cashback from TopCashBack and 10% off through a work scheme... Double WHOOP!

Anway - enough witterings... More tonight from me...

Its really inspiring to hear your reflections now, keep them coming and stay with us!

Clocked up a couple of NSDs and suspect - if I can keep away from the internet - there might be a couple more to round off the month. I was in hosp briefly overnight so will be resting up for a few days now. Hopefully we have enough frozen soup etc to keep DD and I going for a few days, I just have to keep her away from the supermarket too!

I'm looking forward to Feb if you'll have me along for the
ride again. This month has been an eye opener, particularly the NSDs, and my fuel budget (though to be fair, I have got about 200 miles expenses to claim when I get bacl to work). Its certainly an incentive to get back on my bike for commuting once I am fit again! I am not sure about our food budget - figures here are accurate, and include dinner money spemd on the few days DD had hot dinners, but we had a lot of things to use up from Dec (we ate christmas tree chocolates for our pudding on Monday!) so it might be a real test to keep it hovering around the same amount next month! Good to aim for. We have a lot of rice, at any rate!

    Hello,
Just a quick one from me. It was a spend day cos I had to get DD some wellies as her old ones have fallen to bits. They were reduced to £3 though as the shop is closing down.
Having a few issues at the moment so I am not sure I will be follow the February thread fully. I've already done my plan for Feb as I get paid on the 24th of the months and I have done a big shop where I work so am pretty much sorted, I'll do my food bank donation as usual though but I'm not feeling it, I have some personal stuff to work through, but i will be back in March.

    Quickie from me.

    Not had time to post for the last couple of weeks as time has just flown past this month. Scores on the doors are;

    1. 15/20 SFD
    2. £255.67/£280 food budget
    3. £138/£260 petrol allowance
    4. 5/5 down-shift 5 brands
    5. 18/20 LTW
    6. 1/1 outing with friend.
    7. 1/0 takeaways, coffee shops etc
    8. £3/£3 local foodbank
    9. 4/15, 20 minute sessions of exercise.
    10. £22.30/£10 beauty spends
    11. 20/24 alcohol free days
So doing well on most fronts. Probably won't make the full SFD or alcohol free days but that did include the New Year.

We will make the LTW, shopping and petrol budgets which I am pleased about. I have gone over on the beauty spends but that's cause I got my eyebrows done as a treat.

Paydays were last week but we haven't touched this as we try to run calendar months, so roll on February.

Yes Kat, yesterday was my DFD! I was too tired to do anything nice Tiptoes apart from go sleep and bagsie another SFD :o Thankyou all for your kind words :A

Congratulations Pheonix! So well done, and so well deserved after all your hard work. :T

I've been really slack about checking in this month and it's showing on my challenge totals. Only 11 SFDs (so far, the fat lady hasn't sung!) and over spent on all other areas. :o Having said this I have still made overpayments to debts so it's still forward momentum. Thanks for small mercies :)

So I will be resolving a new leaf next month and trying extra hard . . . hmm maybe I should have checked what Kat has asked of us before I commit to that :rotfl:

Also I'm loving the original challengers chat. I think I found and lurked on the original NOvemebr back in 2012, and then joined the December challenge . . . or was it the January. I can't remember. I started my DFD in December I know that. At least a year anyway, and I wouldn't be nearly so much better off without you all!
