I've just made my £10 foodbank donation for the month as my local one accepts online donation. Giftaid has taken it up to a £12.50 donation as well :D

I've taken this from my food budget for the month so will adjust my signature accordingly.
  • Clawed back a SFD today.

Decided that the Cranberry Juice can wait until tomorrow when I have to go out anyways and will have to spend.

Just made a chilli lasagne. Had eight or nine portions of chilli in the freezer but fancied lasagne, so I just married the two. I've done it before when I made up a chilli beanfeast instead of a bolognese beanfeast by mistake. Tasted alright.

Looking for houses today and spending the day inside. Although I have a viewing later so I need to do some tidying up. It's not too bad so shouldn't take too long, just needs a bit of sprucing up.

Already read and signed up to the Feb challenge. I can't wait. Got a busy Feb coming up though so going to spend aprt of today planning my budgets correctly.

    Debt-free and Proud!
Congrats Phoenix on being debt free:T

Today will not be a SFD as the slow leak in the bathroom we've had for months (plumber thought it was coming from under bath and suggested waiting till we redid bathroom as it wasn't causing any more damage) turned into a waterfall last night and is coming from a flexi pipe under the sink! Didn't cause much more damage than the slow leak did (we already have two holes in kitchen ceiling :rotfl:so water just escaped from those) and looks like it could be fixed with just a new flexi pipe...fingers crossed. FIL is going to have a look today.

    Hi everyone

Thankyou Rainbow, Clippy and his missus :A

I have just been looking at my total debt figures. My debt repayment strategy involved throwing all my wages at the 6.9% loan and living off a £500 interest free overdraft each month (starting the month in the red was a good motivator to stop spending!). So even though the loan was reducing each month, a little bit of extra debt was created in the process, which means that the actual debt figure from LBM to DFD was £22,687!

If I won that kind of money on the lottery I would be over the moon :j but I feel quite sickened by the fact that the £22,687 has actually passed through my account (from wage to paying the debt) and I have had no enjoyment from it whatsoever.. nothing but struggle and sacrifice and very little to show for it :( What on earth was I thinking with my 'live for today' attitude?

With hand on heart I can honestly say that the whole debt thing has changed me. It has opened my eyes to the value of money and the relationship between money and other areas in my life. Although I joined these monthly challenges in November, I cant thank you enough Kat for helping reinforce money saving behaviour patterns and teaching a lifelong skill..

So to that, I'll raise my glass
