Spendy day planned today - hopefully I'll be able to keep tomorrow as a SFD :D

I'm going to pick up my car from the garage (under £100 to fix the problem and that's budgeted for as I put money away for car repairs monthly) and figured that as I was already spending I may as well do the weekly shop as I'm pretty busy this weekend. I've got a list written and a rough meal plan. I have a couple of expensive bits to get such as cat food but aiming to come in under £30 - I certainly hope so as there's only about £90 in my food account and I have nearly three weeks till payday :rotfl:
  • Well I lost a nsd day on Monday when I realised that my eldest had grown out of her jeans. So that was a spend day. Also did food shop. Gone over on my food budget too, despite downgrading my shopping. In all honesty iy was the 2 takeaways we had the took us over. But on those 2 days I wasn't capable of cooking, as I had a flare of illness that prevented me from doing much. No excuse but I know where the money has gone to.
I haven't donated to a food bank because I found a couple of causes that were closer to home and to my heart if thats ok?
On NSD 12 at present. I know I must try harder but these challenges do help.

Today will be a SFD as will tomorrow so I will have managed 19 this month, not bad for the first go.

Managed to do the foodbank donation last night but have only managed 2 downshifts for us as we had done as much as we could already. I will not compromise on teabags (has to be Yorkshire Tea - I live in Yorkshire so what else could it be) I can't even abide PG Tips or Tetley so value is a no no and I would rather do without. Also I am very fussy about coffee and would rather go without, but everything else has been down branded already.

DH range Tesco CC about the £12 overlimit fee they had charged and it has been reversed - yay. I have also set about switching my current account to Halifax so have fingers crossed I will be £100 better off soon.

    Have a good day everyone.

Oh this made me laugh! I bought a bag of Yorkshire Tea from Costco ages ago and it's SO NICE that Mr Mooo now refuses to enterain the thought of using any other tea. We buy it in 1.5kg bags from Costco for about £7 and he pays because I've told him that if I'm in charge we'll buy what's cheapest. :rotfl:

I even take Yorkshire teabags in to work so I can drink tasty tea all day long :D

    Hello,

just checking in. Today will be another SFD. Just popped into town to a BoS branch (as Halifax don't have any in Scotland) and started my bank account switch. Also picked up a top I ordered from Next (using vouchers). Managed to keep my purse shut though and cycled straight back to work.
Can't wait to fiddle with my new accounts and start February.

    Have a nice day

    Afternoon all :)

SFD yesterday :) also did a body step class for first time in ages and omg I ache today!

Paid dad £600 today which is £100 over target :T

not sure where all the money came from tbh as I also paid £200 for holiday and £165 tax bill this month:D think it's because I did quite a few mystery shops in Dec and did most of my jan ones early so already been paid for most. May mean less in Feb though :(

Have joined the feb challenge, but am doing the 'pay off debt first' while still in Jan. It's all going towards a good result, whenever it gets paid, hey?! I got my extra pay, and had set targets to pay towards savings and the mortgage that used it all up for the next 8 months, ie until my days reduce :). I've also been paying over bits and bobs, TillyTidying along the way, plus the weekly saving amount (going backwards). My grand total is about £1240 :j:j:j. £800 is from extra pay, the rest from frugalling. Am wearing my 'smug' face:)!

Had a bit of an epiphany the other day. I wanted to get on with knitting but only got 2 rows done before having to stop. I was happy to have at least done a little. Then I realised that saving money can be like that. It seems a paltry amount at times, but it all adds up over the longer term. Mini LBM over for now!

  • SD today as predicted.

Had to pay for a prescription and I needed to pick up some eggs and juice. i did buy a few other bits, but again, these will last me into February and I bought four of my February birthday cards. Still going to take them from the Jan budget though.

Going to have to pay for parking tomorrow once, if not twice, however as these are for house buying purposes they aren't coming out of my budget and i'm not counting them as spends.

That will bring me to 19 SFD's, which i'm kind of impressed with.

  • What a shock missyv30, virtual hugs from me. £379.26 is a fantastic result for January though, so make sure you still give yourself a big pat on the back for that phenomenal achievement. Stick at it, even though it is probably the last thing you feel like doing x.
