Make the most of today, try not to think about tomorrow

Was hoping to potter in garden today but the rain has come.......

  • Well ... another week seems to have disappeared

    Plodding along I guess :)

I phoned the vets to see if there's an alternative for Maisie's anti-histamines as they're £20 / month  or to see if I could get a prescription and order them online .... well I can't even find them available online so they're apparently special order from a supplier

If it was a couple of months it would be fine - but her itching is getting longer each year and it's really only from Mid November - Mid Feb that she doesn't itch at all! 9 months @ £20 is getting a bit steep

(we have tried the ones I can get over the counter - under supervision of previous vet but they sadly don't do a lot for her which is a bit of a PITA)

Receptionist did the usual - 'does your insurance not just pay it'

Anyway, spoke to the vet who was much more understanding! :)

We have a new one to try - which works out at £6.70 / month so much better! :) Fingers crossed .....

    What else .......

Oh I signed up to do the Election Count - not something I really like to do as I'm not good with late nights BUT I'm on hol that week so have 3 days to catch up!

Really need the money :o - can't remember if I've posted on here about the external works needing done on the house (I think it might've been on the EF thread) ..... thankfully split with next door but still need to fund £250

Hopefully should have £100 in the EF that's accessible by then (£300 is in an ISA that I can't really get hold of :( to stop me raiding it :o) .... I may need to raid the advance landline funds which aren't due until May so could repay from the election money - are you still with me :rotfl: it's a constant juggling act!

Might even need to raid the '£ a week, 50th birthday surprise' pot as I know there's £60 in there ...... *sigh*

  • I'll much rather do the day I think but far, far to long to leave the dog - even if I had the walker come in. Pretty sure its 6am - 10pm:eek:

    How are you Beanielou?

Hope your house bill is less than mine - big downside of it being yours

As you say downside of house ownership.
    Is it really worth it?

Don't really want to go there ..... my mortgage is about £200 / month less than my rent was (and that's 8 years since I rented so lord knows what it would be now) - that wasn't sustainable long term - it was nearly 50% of my salary before any other household costs

No chance of a council house or affordable housing here so it's the only option ..... given an affordable alternative ..... nope, I'm not sure it is sometimes

Moneywise ..... cashed in the '50th birthday treat' pot money towards the house repairs :( not thrilled about that - but really can't see how else I'm going to raise the money *sigh* - ohhhhh to just be able to afford it when things happen!

So ... Happy Easter everyone :)

Enjoying the few days off ..... work busy and hectic / not enough hours in the day etc etc .....

Back at you! :D And to everyone else :)

Had quite a good day :) been to visit Mum & Dad (traffic was absolutely awful both ways - thankfully it's not too far now!)

Lovely and sunny - stopped off at the small, nearly always deserted beach on the way back (it backs onto a Nuclear Power Station :rotfl:) and it was actually quite busy ... hate to think what the others must've been like!

Just spent the past couple of hours in the garden - tackled the overgrown clematis / ivy / honeysuckle on one side of the fence ... hope to get it painted tomorrow (watch - it'll rain now!)

  • So Easter has been and gone

Been an absolutely bloomin' lovely weekend here :)

Met up with the lady I got Maisie from at a dog show on Friday .... she says she's looking good! I do really enjoy catching up with her but I always worry she'll ask for her back (I know she won't but ....)

Sat I slept a lot :o (still getting over the lurgi thing I had :() and Sun I had Easter Lunch at M&Ds ..... Mon I painted the side fence ready to put the new screening up :) (I'll need to wait until May hols for mum to help me) and today I had a lie in .... pottered around and then had a lovely walk on the big beach :T

    Back to work tomorrow ....

    Don't read on if eating

On the downside - I have an infected toe :(

Having an 'iffy immune system means every little cut tends to go yukky but I'm pretty good at dealing with them as a) I'm used to it! and b) I've got stuff like iodine which is great for dealing with minor infections.

I have terrible feet (as those who've been with me for years will know :rotfl:) and every so often I get a really bad toe .... I thought I'd sorted it the other day and it was just sore while it recovered but it's still looking vile and angry :(

I've trussed it up with an iodine strip and will hope it's a bit better tomorrow

If not, I'll seriously have to think about going to the foot clinic ... I've put it off so far as I really can't bear the thought of anyone else touching it / digging around in there!

Foot clinic is good as you can refer yourself BUT it's a bit of a PITA as they will only sort out problems once they happen, you can't go for preventative stuff :( and I'm afraid I just can't afford to go to the podiatrist regularly

(I might have to go and see her once this toe is sorted though - just to check the others aren't going the same way. It's really been far too long since I've been to see her :o)

Really sympathise, since I had septicima from a fall and a cut, my immune system is temperamental.

I get more infections in my fingers and spend a lot of time with them socking in mugs of hot salty water..... Does the trick bi put a pain in more ways than one !
