  • New kibble - at full price - will save about £1/week so putting Maisies costs down to £19/month (and making the cats look even worse!)

At the offer price, it comes out at 15p/ day so OK saving (she doesn't get a lot so its not huge) but hopefully its a slightly better food :D

Even if she does end up needing slightly more it will still be cheaper so that's good

2 bags should last her a good 6 months :D

  • I use Quidco which also gives cshback for zoo+:D must look at topcashback though as the rates via QC have reduced over the past year :(

Raw feeding - mmmmm tbh I'd not be able to cope with it :o

Having 2 autoimmune diseases and taking immunosuppressive drugs leaves me a bit vulnerable to things - and especially stuff like salmonella which would make a healthy person unwell, would make me really Ill so I'd not risk it

Id really struggle to get her a balanced diet anyway as she can only have chicken and fish meat wise and many dogs don't seem to tolereate raw fish well

Cost wise - I think it depends how you do it - I know someone who feeds 3 Labs for about £20/month :T but does know game keepers and gets leftover stock from local butchers / fishmongers

You can get prepared raw which has everything needed to ensure a balanced diet but these are pretty expensive (so generally people might use em until they're confident to 'do it themselves')

Anyway fingers crossed the new food suits her

Wish I could cut the cats food bill a bit ;)

All makes sense - my relative uses animal-grade chicken from a specialist supplier and supplements it with things like ox hearts. I think raw fish would be going a bit far for most people, I can't even stand having the fish Butchers cans in the house :rotfl:

Hopefully she likes new kibble :)

  • Another weekend upon us already

Is this year going to disappear as quickly as last year did?:eek:

The joys of being a singleton on 'that day' of the year *sigh*

Anyway, went & picked Maisie up this morning

Popped into town near my mum's before & managed to get a new pair of walking boots reasonably priced :) I can't wear trainers or many shoes so these pretty much my main stay of footwear outside work

I'll relegate the current 'good' ones to dog walking ones ... and start to use the new ones as 'good' ones iykwim :o

Ventured into Mr M as well (there's not one anywhere near here :() and got a few bits & pieces - wish there was one closer as I do like it much better than the others

Best of all ...... my Scottish readers will probably 'get' this ..... being able to get & use plastic bags to pack my shopping in! :D

I know it's supposedly not environmentally friendly BUT I really don't see how using say 7 sm plastic bags for rubbish /
week is worse than using 7 huge thick plastic bin bags / week:huh:

Really don't get that one at all!

I feel even more wasteful chucking out a bin bag with a fraction of it filled!

Anyway, have told mum to keep stocking up on them :rotfl:

  • Must do an update - being good(ish) (much better than last month!) but just really, really busy at work!

Anyway, saw this on the news earlier - this has to be my absolute favourite breed of dog - always wanted one, probably always will & unlikely to ever be lucky enough to have one

I bet they can make anyone crack a smile

  • Not a lot to report here .... plodding as Beanielou would say!

Ordered cat food & litter - I seem to be going through litter quite quickly. I switched brands a few months back and the new stuff comes in slightly smaller bags which is probably why BUT it is a lot cheaper ..... I just seem to be ordering it all the time! :o

I've managed to switch Mia from her Zyklene tablets (for stress etc) to a food that contains the same stuff. It's not cheap (£30 for 4kg ) but she only needs about 25g / day so it works out a lot cheaper than having the tablets every day .... just a bit fork out in one go!

Archie's still proving 'problematic' with his food - found a new Sheba pouch (Duo) I'd not seen before and he seems to be eating that :) It's on offer for 3 for £10 (but just bought the one box to try) but not sure whether to risk buying another 3 boxes or not ..... (ends Tues)

Horrifically windy last night  I could hear things blowing around the street and ended up having to blu-tak the letter box as Maisie barked everytime it rattled! ;)

Another week & I'm on my hols :T

  • I'm on my hollibags! :D

A whole week of no work :j

Unfortunately tomorrow I've got the dentist :( still having problems with 'the' tooth (despite root filling - crown - bridge ) and have another gum infection :(

Not sure what's going on but I certainly don't have anymore money to throw at it

Does anyone know what sort of guarantee you get with dental work?

New neighbours moved in next door on Friday :( 3 dogs :( I'm a dog person but don't really appreciate having 3 go nuts everytime I set food otu the door ....... fingers crossed they settle down

    Appt @ 12:20 ...... it's actually (typically) looking a lot better today

I'm going though as it's the 2nd time it's happened now (I only had it fitted at the end of last year) so there's obviously something not quite right and, having paid just under £600  I really don't expect to be getting gum infections every 2/3 months!

Not a lot else happening today - Maisie's in a ball on the sofa, it's chilly out - need to drag her out in a mo ..... need to get some screening for the garden fence - mine blew down in the gales a couple of months back & is on the 'to do' list but has now become urgent with next doors dogs ......

New place opened near my dentist so will try that first

Mum's coming tomorrow & wants to go shopping

  • O M G

Where has this week gone!

Can't believe it's back to work already tomorrow! :(

On a positive, I've had a nice week - pottered in the garden (I really did nothing to it last year as wasn't that well so it's a shambles :o) and not the back fence painted (had fence paint already :money:) so that's good ..... just need to dig out loads of very overgrown plants, sort the grass, cut down very overgrown clematis from next door, paint the other 3 sides of the fence and ..... :rotfl:

Have a slight money issue - house needs external works done (sadly not claimable on insurance) ..... I guess the good news is that it's split with next door BUT it's £250 each

    *sigh*

    There's always something ......

I can see me having to use the money I've saved in the '£1 / week 50th birthday treat' jar ..... (only £60 but it's a start towards it :()
