  • I'd put the pillow down to take some photos of stuff to put on the local selling board as it's quite a good background for stuff standing out on

    *rolleyes*

Good news is that I managed to sell the item that I'd listed :) It's only £5 but better in my pocket than the item lying around unused!
I do have the money to pay it BUT also need to find somewhere between £400 - £500 for my winter wheels & tyres

Really struggling to find wheels :(

Hyundai quoted me over £500 for steels  - can't find a 2nd hand decent set under £300 & then it's really hard as you can't tell if they're dented etc from photos and it's a lot to take a risk on

I have found a place that does new alloys for £120 (delivered) each - but that's £480 for the 4 .... which is my entire budget for the wheels & tyres

I found some 2nd hand alloys on e*bay - have managed to get 2 so far for £160 (delivered)

They have new tyres on :T so can hang onto these & they will do as a new pair when my existing ones need replaced which will save long term :) :money:

Have found a 2nd set of 2 so working on getting those .... £130 (delivered) but no tyres

That would put the total cost of the wheels at £290 ......

If I don't manage to get them, I'll have to buy 2 new ones from the other place which will be £240 .... big difference so fingers crossed

Tyres are about £70 each ...... so another £280

I feel for you....l had to have new alloys and tyres on my Hyundai a coupe of years ago before I was in MSE mode... Just bought from my garage it was :eek:

My Daddy always though said to be safe new ones rather than old
As a dear MSE friend says “keep plodding” or
What does the saying say.... When life hands you lemons, make lemonade
Or as my Mum would say, brush yourself down, tomorrow is another day or

Been meaning to look at this for a while :o

Took out cover with the phone provider when I got it (it was easy & meant I knew it was covered) which was £5.99 / month

Seems good (instant replacement if you take it into a shop etc) BUT no loss cover

Anyway, just done a bit of a hunt around & have found a better level of cover for less money! :T

    £45.49 per year :) = £3.79 / month

Paid in full (couldn't start cover today by paying by d/debit for some reason) & there was also 5% discount for doing so

So, that's £6 saved coming out my account each month

That's what my Dad said too!

You don't want to know what hyundai quoted me for new alloys

The 2nd hand set I've got are off a car that'd only done 2,600 miles :) and the other set is from a car that'd done less than 5,000 miles so I'm happy with that as they're very nearly new

Who did you get your phone insurance with?

Did a couple of quotes but ended up with Budget Mobile

If you do decide to do it AND pay by d/debit, note that there isn't a policy start date & cover starts the date of your d/debit

I did the 1st one and then when conf email came through it had the start date as 2/10 (date I'd chosen for the d/debit) - phoned up & they said it would always do this

Cancelled that policy, did a new one, paid in full by c/card (you can also use debit card) and it started straight away

(other insurance was phones4U so not too sure if it would still be valid or not hence why I wanted it to start today)

Seems a bit odd but ......

  • Wheel update

So ... very pleased to announce I have finally got a 2nd set of wheels! :j

In the end, both sets are coming with near new tyres on :)

As Dad put it, if I'd had to buy these new:

Cost of buying new wheels £544
Cost of buying 4 new tyres £320
    Total £864

But, by buying very nearly new sets, I've saved £556 :money:

It also means I won't have to fork out for summer tyres for ages as the ones on car should last 2 years (they're only on for 1/2 the year!) & then have a set to replace them with

Still need to get the winter tyres but feeling much happier now we've got the wheels sorted!

  • Carpet day!

    Morning all :)

    Today is new carpet day!!

OMG I have to say, it's not something I want to do again in a hurry!

My whole house is stuffed with various bits & pieces out the lounge  - it's a tip! :o

Can't wait for it to be done so I can start to re-organise!

I'm determined that nothing is coming back in that I don't need (I need a good throw out)

I'm a bit of a hoarder :o) eg there's an old cat water fountain lying at the top of the stairs. I dragged it out the loft a couple of months ago to throw out

BUT it still works .... BUT I won't use it as I worry about its' safety (I had it for Smudge and it must be 12+ years old) - the electrics on these things worry me at the best of times (plugged in all the time & water)

It's progressed from the spare room to the top of the stairs (for me to lift to bring down to the bin) - where it's been for a week!

Mum's coming today - I'll get her to chuck it in :D (although she's just as bad - I gave her an old waterproof of mine to dispose of as I couldn't ...... next time I went home, it's hanging in her coat cupboard :rotfl:)
