Right .... I'm on a mission!
Maybe I need to go back to making lists - like on the 'what DF things are you going to do today' thread .....
I've wasted far too much money recently- not really wasted but just not thinking IYKWIM eg decide to have something with chicken for dinner, forget to get chicken out the freezer, so buy another pack .... it then goes in the freezer .... and I do the same thing a few days later
Needless to say .... there's loads of chicken in the freezer :rotfl:
So - II'm going to attempt to use up what I've got this month - then I can have a nice re-stock for winter :T
Started well - I made Chicken / Leek & Mushroom Risotto last night (yum - one of my favourites & I've not had it for AGES!) and have LO for tonight
(don't think it'll be long before I have it as went to town earlier & didn't have any lunch!)Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Today's spends ......
Needed to go to town - I needed colour strip things from B&Q to try to match paint to next door
I'm having my garage & front door re-painted - I got the windows done a couple of years ago but couldn't afford to do the garage / front door then as well
They really should've been done last year but just didn't get around to it - as I was determined to do it myself BUT having thought about it more, I will admit to being absolutely HOPELESS with gloss paint
With it being the front door / garage, it really does need to look reasonable! (ie not have great runs of paint, which is what happens when I gloss!)
Have had a quote & it's fine but ideally want the paint to match next door so it looks good .... unfortunately he threw away the pot so we don't know what the colour is *sigh*
Anyway, while I was in town (to help justify the fuel cost), I popped to M&S - really (really, really) need work trousers
I'm down to one pair  - it's been OK as have been wearing skirts with it being summer but it's starting to get a bit chilly some days & I can't get away with summer skirts all winter!
Really reluctant to buy loads of things as I've got loads of trousers the size down from what I am just now- just need to shift 1/2 a stone or so!
Managed to get 1 black pair (£25) which should be able to be worn a couple of times a week ......
The other pair are grey with a stripe so I always feel a lot more obvious if you wear them more often than black, as so many people have loads black pairs - is that just me?
Also got some pants (much needed :rotfl:) reduced :T so quite happy!
AND ... they've started to get winter stuff in & remembered that one of the girls at work had fab ear muffs from M&S last year - I did look but it was end of season & there weren't any left ...... they've got new ones :T
Really needed for dog walks - hats are great, but my ears still suffer when it's really windy!
Popped to the big Mr A and stocked up on a few bits I can't get here so, all in all, quite successful!
Put washing out when I got back & it's lovely & breezy so it should hopefully dry quite quickly saving using the TD this week :TGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

I am the same, Rising, but with all kinds of meat. I am trying to use up everything that I already have in the cupboards and freezer before buying anything else. Its going OK so far.
I have LOADS of veggies and salad to use up too, so think I am going to make a veggie chilli and veggie curry at some point this week.
Risotto is great for using up stuff, I make a Chorizo, leek and veg one quite often but the kids don't like it so I end up eating too much.
I like summer, I really do, but I really feel more like a winter person. I love thick tights, jumper dresses and knitted stuff. Good job I don't live near a town or I'd be in troubleSounds like you got some good things in M&S though.

mmmmmm that sounds tasty! I've got a couple of packs of Chorizo in the fridge to use
I often add it when I make spag bol sauce - beef mince doesn't hugely agree with me so I tend to use Quorn mince when I do it - but it can be a bit bland which is where the Chorizo is fab!Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

I love chorizo so much, I try and add it to everything, but never thought of adding it to spag bol!
I recently bought a new fridge freezer which is much smaller than my old one. This helps with keeping food bills down as I cant fit lots in there! Mind you, 2 hungry boys (1 of whom is a teenager) means that my food bills are always going to be a bit higher that I'd like!0
