  • So - quick pet update as promised! :)

Archie & Mia are still totally separated *sigh* It can be a total PITA but things are calmer & they all seem happy which is the main thing

Archie is (touch wood) doing great, he's loving this warm weather & has been out all day most days

Mia is doing good, no signs of aggression but life is still pretty stressful for her. She was pretty ill last week & ended up being kept in vets (thankfully not too long) - and touch wood seems to be fine now home (my bank balance is a lot less though!)

Maisie - have finally got her tum sorted - providing she doesn't scavenge! I've a decent rotation of good foods - some available online (German based company) which are a really good price & balance the costs of some of the others (which aren't as cheap!)

Switched vets a couple of weeks ago - old vets moved their out of hours to the far side of Edinburgh (it was near Asda at Chesser.... it would have been a total nightmare at the best of times but say a Sat or Sun afternoon if there was football / rugby on )

Anyway, new vet is slightly further away than the old one (I would have to travel min 8 miles anyway) BUT does on site OOH so a lot happier

Anyway - really impressed with the new vet (it also compares really well cost wise too :)) BUT could've done without going 4 times in the week I registered!

Have you missed by rambling! :rotfl:

    Hi Risin

Glad to see you back. I want a new car but at the moment I can't justify it as there isn't much wrong with mine - very jealous.

  • Car update ......

    She's here! :)

    She's beautiful! :D

She's ...... still nameless  working on that!

After Dinky and Dinky2, I better get a bit more imaginative!

She's all lovely & clean (that won't last with Maisie!) and shiny :)

Maisie has been in the boot :T I don't think she's especially impressed BUT it's a lot more practical & hopefully should make it a lot easier to keep the car clean (inside especially)

There's plenty of room for her & once Mum & Dad move (3 weeks!), it's only going to be 1/2 hour to them & we rarely go further than that on our travels so it's fine (she was crated in the car with her former owner so there's def more room than that!)

Taking it easy(ish;)) for a few hundred miles to let the engine settle (thank goodness you don't need to do all that 'running in' like you used to!)

MPG on way home from work yesterday fluctuated between 43 and 45 :)

I'd only manage 35mph out of Dinky2 .... on a good day! (ie trip to M&Ds which is fairly flat) - and daily use was worse as it's really hilly around here & that killed her fuel consumption (another reason for changing)

SO .... things looking good for saving a bit of money on fuel costs!

No servicing costs until 2018 :T which I'm delighted about so must try to put the money saved from that aside somewhere

Very nice to drive BUT she feels absolutely ENORMOUS :o

I parked outside the C00P yesterday and must've had at least 8 feet behind me & 10 in front when I got out :rotfl: (I have no idea where the back is & can't see the front either!)

I do need to get some car mats (£45 at Hyundai!) but found similar ones online for just under £20 & may pop into Halfords later (as going down to M&Ds so they can have a look!) and see what they've got

    Very pleased! :)

  • Hi! Just be reading through your diary! Subscribed now.

Me and my wife have decided to keep our car for the next 2 years until it's paid off even though we'd like a new, bigger one!! We can wait though (I think!!!)

    Good luck - keep going!!

  • A very warm welcome LMD :D

It's def worth keeping them until they're paid for AND if you can a couple of years afterwards (to try to save up a bit towards the new one so you don't have to borrow as much - or hopefully nothing!)

I really must keep this one for 4 years .......

  • Thanks!

Yeah - that is the idea, in fact I think we plan to run it into the ground!! :D

We're hoping to be debt free in two years so, fingers crossed, we can buy a bigger family car then and keep current one as the 'runaround'!!

Just keep repeating 'I WILL keep it for four years, I WILL keep it for four years' :rotfl:

  • Ohhhhhh - think I might've forgotten to mention I've got a new job :o

It's only temporary (until end March) and TBH the money isn't hugely different (bottom of next pay scale & I'm at the top of mine) but should be about £50 / month

Going to attempt to stick that away somewhere for emergencies as really don't want to get used to having the extra as it's so short term

Anyway, hoping it might lead to other opportunities ......

Must do a new SOA ....

    Hello Rising, :hello:

Just catching up after a looong time.. :)

Congrats on new wheels! Had to g00gle "i20" as I didn't have a clue what you were talking about - looks like a nice little runaround, at a pretty reasonable price - surely better all round than a Fiesta (and that's coming from someone who favours Ford over most other makes, lol)?

Well done also on new job, hope you manage to build up savings with the 'extra' pay while it lasts. :)

Cuddles to Mia and Archie, and especially to Maisie - wags and licks from CD too.. :)

ps. Which side of Edinburgh is your new vet on? Eeek to getting to know him/her via four visits in one week!
