Not all home insurance companies charge extra for paying by direct debit, and it's a lot of money to find in a lump compared to a wee direct debit, so that's what I do
It's a lot better to pay your car insurance in a lump because so many of them charge that premium and (for me anyway) it's a bigger charge.
You'll be fine - you're good at this MSE lark when your head is in the game. Keep focussed and keep posting
Nice to "see" you back!0 -
Thanks Moo
Honestly, I've been doing this long enough to think that a few months without writing everything down shouldn't mean that I've totally derailed .... but I have!
You're right about the car / house insurance thing too - I've paid both in full for a couple of years now - will do the house by d/debit and hopefully save up enough for the car one when it's due (Sept)Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

mmmmm things seem to have crept up a lot as that's my new wage & I've not got a huge amount left over (which could partly explain the overspending)
Pets insurance - our insurer has pulled out the marketArchie is at an age where he would have a 20% of cost (on top of excess) applied with other insurers - Maisie will be the same in approx 6 months time
Have been looking to move them to accident / injury policies for a while but not been brave enough yet
I've been trying to save a buffer to cover any emergencies BUT Maisie keeps having to go to the vet for small silly things - that all seem to cost £100 - £150 (not worth claiming) so not making progress on this(It wouldn't leave me more disposable money as would still put money previously spent on insurance away for them)
Groceries is still ridiculous & still not making any headway on this - diet is still very restricted (and sadly expensive)Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

So just sorted out Maisie's food cupboard and .....
I knew I had a lot of her wet food (had some stuff to take back to PAH recently & didn't have the receipt so had a credit note & got loads of stuff as it was on offer) but .... even so ......
Let's say that I don't need to buy any wet food for her forerrrrr
... will I feel better if I actually write it down:o.....
OK .... here goes ..... deep breath ....
6 months
*sigh*
I do only have the one bag of dry though! (which we're currently using - should last approx 2 months)
Need to do similar stock takes for the cats - although I know they're not as bad - maybe 3 months?
My stock piling is getting a bit out of control again- since I've had to stop my really strong painkillers, I've noticed my OCD getting worse too so I guess they were maybe helping keep those under control (as well as the pain from my foot)
MSE resolution NO 1 .....
NO buying any wet food for Maisie until at least September .... no matter how good the offer isGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Hi Beanie:D
Noooooo BUT I don't have any savings left either as just used the last meagre dreggs to pay off the c/card that seemed to have got stuck with a balance (I'd been so good with this for about 3 years as well clearing it every month:mad:)
*sigh*
Do you think you're every really cured of over spending - or is it like any other addiction that if you do it, you'll always be very tempted to do it?Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Sadly I think it is always a tendency that you err too.
Just like(for me) wanting to eat all the wrong things.
I think I will always have an ongoing fight with my weight.
