The Coventry's current account has no ability to have a cheque book. They simply don't exist on this account. If you want a cheque you have to ask them to write one for you.- They all had the ability to have a cheque book and have an overdraft should they be requested..

You can't if the depositor/creditor doesn't have the facility for a reference field (where the 10 digit account number goes).
You are clearly missing the point, lots of companies only ask for a 6 digit sort code and 8 digit account number.
This can't be the truncated version like Direct Debits.you can make bank transfers into it directly and set DDs/SOs for outgoing payments. This wouldn't be the case only if the number had less than 8 digits, not more. Extra two digits do no harm.
Resorting to personal insults?Or is it just the prefix 'pseudo' that you still struggle to understand? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I have accounts with many banks and I am yet to see such 'depositor/creditor/company'. In fact in real life most of us are getting very few bank transfers from companies. The salary can be the main problem, but I think it can be solved with most companies. You can't if the depositor/creditor doesn't have the facility for a reference field (where the 10 digit account number goes).

What do you mean? This can't be the truncated version like Direct Debits.
No offense intended. I am just trying to understand why you keep arguing, despite being obviously wrong.Resorting to personal insults?
So, why this account can't be called 'pseudo-current' when it- comes with a cash card,
- accepts direct transfers from other banks,
- allows DDs and SOs?

Very true, its never had a cheque book, even their proper current account doesnt come with a cheque book, you have to ask them to do one for youProud to be a member of the Anti Enforcement Hobbyist Gang.:D:T0 -
It can make difference for a bank transfer to the account. If they cannot add the reference you need this makes the transfer impossible.0

There's often another field for transfers. Seem to remember one of mine has a 'remitter' field. Indeed, YBS say if you can't use a reference at the sending bank end you can simply add your name...It can make difference for a bank transfer to the account. If they cannot add the reference you need this makes the transfer impossible.
I do wonder, though, if the 10 digit number really is required. Maybe I should send a small amount to test it?If you are unable to quote a reference number, please ensure that the account holder's name is quoted on the transfer details.

Oh, by the way people. got REJECTED again. Passport sent back etc. No explanation.
The only reason I can think of is that it wen to THEIR head office (NATWEST) AND they declined it.
As for NatWest, I took in confirmation of discharge from bankruptcy from the office receiver to open up a new basic account, and that wasn't sufficient evidence to prove that I am discharged, even thoughon the letter it gives a website to see the discharged insolvency register. They require the CERTIFICATE from court for bankruptcy discharge, where im prob not willing to fork out £75 for it!!!!0 -
The Head Office for YBS is most definitely not at NatWest!bradztheman wrote: »Oh, by the way people. got REJECTED again. Passport sent back etc. No explanation.

The only connection is the aforementioned collection account sort code.
Nose...spite...face? Do you want a current account or what? They require the CERTIFICATE from court for bankruptcy discharge, where im prob not willing to fork out £75 for it!!!!0 -
I set up an account with YBS a week ago online - They didn't even ask for ID and I've never had an acc with them before. Today I go my cash card through the post.
Your situation is strange - maybe the address details didn't match when they did the identity check??Member #179 -The 'Save 12k in 2014' Challenge £1740/£50000
