Just feeling sorry for myself at the moment. Totally broke waiting for payday and my sister paid for me to go bingo - I won £600. Gave her half for paying for me and had £300. Planned to put £75 in sealed pot challenge, £150 on debt free and £75 on goodies for me and the baby.
:(:( roll on a day later and husbands car breaks and its going to cost...... yep you guessed it..... roughly £300 to fix.
We cant take any money out the bank as thats for bills/food etc so the only money we have is the £300.
I do see it as a god send in a way but i'm just so gutted. Was finally about to be off the mark and start doing the things I decided to do this year and it goes pear shaped! Dont know how many exasperated breathes I have taken the past few days :(
So i'm still not off the mark..... maybe payday!

    Oh dear.

At least you had the winnings to pay for the car so you did not have to go into more debt to pay for the repairs

We are only 3 weeks into the year, so keep positive and you will achieve what you want to.

    keep your chin up x

Redsheep: Is the loan a secured or unsecured loan? If it's secured then I would say no as this leaves your home in a vulnerable position. Have you looked on www.whatsthecost.com it's a snowball calculator and could help you find a more comfortable way to pay off the debt x

    Hi all,

chin up for all those finding things difficult, think how far you have come and what you have achieved : )

    tiffany - I too am a mum with a slow cooker! :D

I love it!, my biggest problem is that I always forget to take the meat out the night before to defrost :o so I end up nipping to the butchers near work, and although his meat is nice it is not really price friendly, compared to the butchers we go to where we bulk buy, hence my big food bill

but, I have been mooching online - Tesco sent me a spend 50 save 15 code, so I intend to use this to stock up my cupboards, and freezer for the month - they also have slow cooker packet sauces on 90p each or 2 for £1.00. I am looking for different meals to chicken hot pot, and sausage casserole, and they have loads I can use that are the same theory as I use now but different flavours, so I have put some of those in my basket along with everything that has gone in is half price or on offer. I think with some clever planning, I will have done my months meal plan, and got everything I will need apart from meat and top up of bread, milk, fruit and veg. But meat will be a case of emptying what I already have in the freezer and veg and fresh stuff will be from aldi super 6, lidl weekend offers and a little fruit and veg shop between home and work that is really reasonable :)

anyway, there I go again on my waffle wagon!

off to watch yesterday corrie, tissues at the ready :(

hope you all have a lovely evening, whatever you are doing

p.s (you will get to know how rubbish I am with names, so apologies) but re the car and its expenses, as others have said, although it is no doubt frustrating, at least you have not added onto your debt x big hugs x on a positive side, when you get it fixed at least you know that is one thing that is fixed and will have some warranty on the repair for the future x
