damn... apparently i can't take money out of the savings pot until i've made 12 consecutive payments!!! they didn't tell me this when i opened the account. having said that im not sure staff realise cos they were saying to me only the other day that they could get me the money quicker than 40 days if i really really needed it... hmm.
  • Ok, so I'm here again with a dilemma. I have a payment due from the council for a child minding placement - it's for £300 now they don't state how I have to spend it so technically it's just extra wages but I don't know whether to use the money to improve my outdoor provision for the children by buying polycarbonate screens for my gazebo which will mean the children have a wet weather play area or whether to pay it off my debts......I just can't decide although I think you will all say pay it off the debts it'll make such a difference to the kids :/ arghh help!

Also if I really try hard I stand a chance of getting my mortgage under the 10k mark next year!

  • Hi Kei welcome to the challenge, you're number 136! I think you're joining a queue of people who are desperately waiting for pay day!

Sharronej it's a tough one, I would probably say that if childcare has led you to be in debt, then the money should be paid off the debt. The kids can always play indoors when it rains. But then I don't have kids, so my priorities would be different.

It's my job and as such the spend would be tax deductible. It would make a huge difference to our quality of day as at the moment it's virtually all boys I'm caring for so giving them then opportunity to play 'outdoors' in all rains without the constraints of using their 'indoor voices' and having the chance to run around would be priceless (as the advert says lol) .... although it is true that I have bought business equipment on credit cards in the past year!
  • sharonej it sounds worth it then, as it's a selling point that could lead to more income (if you had a spare space to fill). If it's something you will do later that would go on the credit card as well, might as well pay for it now.

    Hello all
Thank you for being so welcoming : )

After some jigging about yesterday with my virtual pots and finding both car insurance and house insurance cheaper than budgeted for I have been able to make a payment WOO WOO!! I am finally off the starting block, now roll on payday!

Got a guy coming to look at our roof this afternoon so hopefully time to sort and plan my meals better as this month has been dire, actually better than usual but this month I have written everything down and for a family of 4 are at the 300 mark which is terrible. However I do have loads in so going to see how I can do next month for 120 max - a challenge that's a must to remain on track budget wise : /

Before I break into waffle, which my mates say I have graduated at phd level in!! My total update

#133. £312 paid off my total

Thanks admin for all you do and to everyone else for everything else

    Have a lovely day all : )
