Gwengeth15 - i've updated you to £410 paid off as per your sig - is that right?
HopefulFuture - Welcome! You're #115, good luck!
Angelbob - well done on selling on fb - i sell loads on e3ay but i'm scared of fb! Is it easy/more profitable that e3ay?
Amr - I found several chocolate bars in my drawers at work today that i'd forgotten about. Flake was eaten, Picnic given away, a Fudge and Crunchie left for "emergencies"!
Nomi01 - i agree January is a looooong month. Although i'm sad February is really short as i won't get to pay off as much debt as i would do in a "normal" month. I'm sure i'm not normal...

Hello!
I'd like to join again please. I was on the 2013 thread but seemed to forget to post my progress and lost a little motivation..so I really need to keep posting this time. I started the challenge last year with £10,715 to get rid of. Not bad when I started out on £40,000 many moons ago.
Its been tough going I have to say, I don't really remember a time when I haven't had some kind of debt - probably before we got married back in 2000.. not a great fact to admit.
Any hoo, I have been plodding on, and knocked off about £2000 since last year - I had hoped for a lot more and to be honest I have slacked a little here and there. But I'm determined to get rid of my niggly little debts this year that will leave me with the big one next year of £5000 (all on no or very low interest thankfully). This should give me the motivation I need to get rid of it all once and for all.
So, my debt is now £8,1033. But I want to set the 2014 challenge at £2931.07. I'm managing to pay around £100 a week comfortably, but I really need to stop being 'comfortable' and get my wotsit into gear and have this baggage gone! eBay selling and other extra work is starting to come in so I'm aiming for £150 a week soon.
My pledge.. £2931.07

So my total debt to clear is £3881.00
I live on my own so the support will be very much needed! I have no-one to ask me about my spending or keep an eye on me!
Plan is to take in a lodger for my spare room - had one for 3 months last Summer and got a lovely £240.00 a month which I stupidly spent rather than saved. Learned my lesson now though! Good Luck to all - we can do this!
I'm in a similar situation myself and half my income goes on my mortgage and then bills on top which leaves me very little to survive and pay my debts off...can be a real struggle at times but i'm determined this time...and with some motivation from the forum i'm sure I can do it!
Have been considering a lodger/foreign student myself but have a little decorating to do first!!#4 DFBXMAS24 - £2,322.85/£5,000

I was abit embarrassed to sell on facebook at first, worried what people I knew would think, (grr who cares what someone I went to school with 20 years ago thinks)
but I find it better now than ebay as no fees, no post office and a lot of times I can list an item and have someone collect and pay that same dayand the wanted sites are brill too, try it xxx

Evening everybody!!
I spent a lot of time yesterday sorting out my bedroom - since we moved nearly 6 months ago there is still junk everywhere that hasn't been organised or sorted through so I made an effort to shift some of that. I think apart from expensive stuff I'm done with selling now though - I just cannot work up the time and effort needed to even photograph things let alone actually list them or post them and it's so expensive so nuts to it, everything just goes to the charity shop or bin and I instantly feel happier because it's out of my hair rather than waiting around for ages to flog something!! :rotfl:
Apart from that I've been doing my meal planning for the next three weeksAll my Tesco shopping is ordered, I know what we're having every night and even have a few treat bits for my week of night shifts
LOVE being this organised and it's saving us money too - last week was the first time in AGES that we've not ended up having at least one takeaway because there was no food in the house or we couldn't be bothered :A

Jonesy I tried selling on Facebook - if you're worried about friends seeing everything you post, set up another profile 'Jonesy Sells', and use that. Just friend yourself, so people can link to a real profile too... I didn't list much on Facebook, because I figured my housemates wouldn't appreciate me giving out our address to randoms, and what I did list didn't sell, but I do keep meaning to try again!0

Argh...my favourite company have a sale on down filled jackets from £99 to £29! I have had a few coats from them and they are fantastic....if I can't even get past January I'm clearly sunk! Must be strong! No I don't need it just really, really want one!0

I'm eyeing up my credit card - currently balance is £2055 and I'm thinking how easy it would be to pay off £56 and take it under £2k. However, it's still only the 6th of the month so whilst I'm actually doing quite well financially thus far, I don't want to leave myself short later so will be patient. Plus it doesn't cost me anything whereas the loan does.
I'm struggling to work out how much interest I'm paying on the loan, does anybody know the maths I should do to suss it out? I know I'm paying more than interest but I'm not sure quite how much more. Loan value was £5k over 48months, I believe I have taken 2 repayment holidays (so it becomes £5k over 50 months) and the APR is 9.9%. I pay £125.66 per month but also this month started paying an additional £225. Those extra payments will continue until it's gone. I will also make one off larger payments - getting ready to say bye bye to my savings at the end of the month - but I won't factor any of those in.0
