    Hi,
Can I please join? I decided on NYE the amount I want to clear next year and have now found the thread. It must be a sign!
I am hoping to clear £10,600  by end of December.
Its half my debt and it will be tough going but I am determined to clear it. I get paid monthly so will have to wait until the 27th of each month to make a dent in the figure :(

I posted on Friday and totally forgot about it haha

Updated my signature now so let's do this. Payday isn't until 24th January so my result will stay at £0 for a bit unless I find some extra cash from somewhere

    Debt-free and Proud!
Hi guys, hope you are all OK - have enjoyed reading all your updates, seems like some good progress is already underway!

Feeling reaaaaaaaaaally tired being back at work and feeling a bit gloomy due to this slowwww long, dark, cold month! But keep reminding myself of all the good stuff - such as getting nearer and nearer to pay day on the 28th which will see more debt paid off, the fact that I am not adding to my debt in any way shape or form, haven't been spending on anything other than essentials and direct debits out, grateful for all the blessings I have, grateful for being on the right path... Keeping the faith :)
Time will fly guys and we can DO THIS! January is just always a bit of a sod!

Me too!! Really should have gone to bed earlier though so that might explain it!!

Where are you thinking of for your holiday? :)

we're thinking the canary isladns but it depends when we go - if we end up going in august (god help us) we'll look for somewhere else as mainland spain would probably be cheaper.
  • Ooh we went to Tenerife last year - anywhere with sunshine and a beach is awesome though! :D
  • Ok just paid a whopping £1.71 from a debt (as an extra payment for the extra payment a week challenge) so total currently stands at whatever is in my signature :-) lol I know it's not much but it all helps right?

I resisted! Unsubscribed to the web site and threw the brochure away whew!

Unfortunately I can't give you any advice regarding the interest but you could perhaps put the £56 into another account if you have one which you can transfer money into and out of online - that way it's out of what I call the black hole but can be called upon if needed. x

Are you both on water meters? I also live alone / have a mortgage and have found that my water bill is almost a savings account, I'm always in credit! I should probably get them to lower my monthly payments but they aren't too much (£26.69) and I quite enjoy letting it build up and withdrawing £100 or so every 6 months. Certainly helps make a dent in the debt. Only downside is they send a cheque and it takes 2 weeks :p

Yes, I signed upto a water meter about a year ago...it's brought the monthly DD down to £26.50...not had any payments out though! :(

  • theposhbint sorry I missed your post yesterday. Welcome to the 2014 thread! You've done really well to pay off so much so far, good luck with the year ahead #116!

Deere welcome to the thread! Glad we could be here. You're number 117

Verityemilia welcome back! You're number 118

DD265 hold off until later in the month if you are worried it will leave you short. I know there are tools out there for the loan, but I'm afraid I don't know how the percentages work… I have a feeling the snowball (link on the front page) might be able to help, but I've never used it myself!

amr that sounds fair. You can start keeping your eyes peeled for a deal now.

PicklePickle lovely to get extra pay! Was it a nice surprise?

Cantfindafreeuserid every little helps! And it means you are most definitely now paying off your debts
