    Hi there
I haven't updated my payments for a while, but it all currently stands at:

    £3,692.70 / £7,365 target = 50.14% paid off :-)

Started Christmas shopping, bought 2 x gifts but have in the region of 30 people to buy for! We have suggested secret santa style gifting and even stopping buying for adults once they have kids in the past but it never works out right so we will just have to grin and bear it. I was thinking of getting the couples in the family a shared present like a hamper or alcohol as it could work out cheaper than getting them a present each. I'm stuck for ideas other than food or drinks though!! I also fill shoe boxes of small gifts for less fortunate kids every year. This year some of my friends have offered to donate items too which helps quite a lot as it can become quite expensive.

Well done to everyone who's made it to the hall of debt freedom fame. Good luck and keep up the good work to everyone else who's en route there.

I have been AWOL from the site and this thread for most of the year and I can tell, as my debt has really not gone down by very much :o(probably because in the last month or two my spending has been beyond my means and gone onto CC, and eaten into savings)

Back on it now, things listed on ebay, have cancelled subscriptions to beauty boxes, have given myself a talking to regarding my frivolous spending without thinking and have slinked back here with my tail between my legs...

So I've had a look at my spreadsheet and done my sums, and I have paid a miserable 093 £1476.33/12356.39.
Off to try and find my old DFW diary, or maybe start a new one to keep me focused on my goals. Also need to factor in the dreaded Christmas, and concentrate on not increasing my debts this year.

Hoping you lovely lot will have me back?Pretty please?

I have to say I'm not really looking forward to Xmas this year. All I feel is dread towards how much it's going to cost:mad:

Well, still no luck on the job front, though I did at least get my first interview on Friday, so hopefully something may come of that.

Paid off a chunk of a credit card last week, as the 0% was about to run out, but I have a couple more 0% deals ending in early November, so I need to try to pay those off this month too.

£1744.69 paid off in September, making a total of £12732.59 for the year to date for #124

Hope your interview went well! Could I possibly double check what your target was? I have your down as having paid £5,900/£8,500 on your last update?
Can I join in too? Hope its not to late.

I would like to set my target at £1500 to pay off by christmas 14 if thats ok?

    Many thanks:)

Hi JAMIEDODGER - absolutely! Welcome an good luck, you're #213.
I'm really sorry but I'm going to have to pull out of this Challenge for this Year....It's all I can do at the moment to stay out of more Debt without trying to pay any extra right now....

I think I just need to concentrate on making my Weekly Payments to my Debt and keep paying off gradually for the rest of this Year...

I wish you ALL the best for the rest of this Year and I will hopefully be back in the New Year for the next Challenge when I will have then finished College and be on a more even keel...

Helen - I'm sorry you're not doing so great, but don't disappear completely! Keep checking in, let us know if you need help figuring out more ways to save money. I can understand your position, this time of year gets expensive, but if I think I'm accountable to this challenge, I'll think twice about how I spend things.
  • Thank You Everyone for your encouragement...You're absolutely right....and I WILL stick around :D

With that in mind - In for a penny, in for a pound, so I will put my WHOLE Debt as a Target and be here on the Challenge for as long as it takes to get Debt Free...could take several Years but I WILL get there eventually...

Soooooo, Minicooper, could you put my Target now as: £48,106.15

I will work out what I have Paid and update you as to what my Current Total is....but that was my Total a few weeks ago...

*Sigh* Feels better having put it down in writing....and I know I will get there....just will take some time...

Thank you again for ALL of your Support and encouragement...
  • markymark - it sounds like you're actually doing fairly well already! Everyone is different, I suppose the big thing for us is having a target date - something to keep you focussed. How everyone gets there is different, some sell items, others cut way back on treats, and others just like having the structure to paying debts off (i.e. a set amount each pay day).

Nothing exciting happening here this week. I've been suffering with migraines, but when I've not been ill I've been managing to get out for budget things. I can get cinema tickets for £5.50 through work, and I've been following Gr0upon and itis0n for cheap nights out. I did go a little wild in the charity shops yesterday - found a great little shop that charges 99p an item, which is how charity shops should be I think!

edit: helen - we cross posted - I've got your new total, so glad you've decided to stick around!
  • Thanks Minicooper, I really appreciate that :)

I WILL get there, even if it takes me years....
