Would it be insane not to go home for Christmas this year ?
My family live a 6 hour car journey away, and usually with fuel/presents/time off work it costs me almost £500
Am I becoming a bit too obsessed? All I can think of is how lovely it would be pay another £500 off the debt2017 [STRIKE]48000[/STRIKE]

glittery I think you would regret it! You'll have to buy presents anyway, arrange for them to be posted, buy food you wouldn't have had to.
I lived a similar distance from home until recently - can you take the train instead? Book early and it's 1/4 of the usual price. Can you look at making presents? I made home made limoncello and infused gin for people 2 years ago it worked out around £4 a gift. I was going to make toiletries for people last year, but we did secret Santa a instead because my friend needed to save money. I also doubled up my clubcard vouchers to buy my sister an expensive set of kitchen scales and my OH a caffetierre. This year I've switched my clubcard to save up all my points for Christmas, and I'll do something similar. At this rate i should have around £50 to spend.
There are lots of ways to save money and give you a happy time with your family!0 -
Hi everyone :j
Wow - some great efforts being made on this thread.
I've still got the post holiday blues, but in reality thats been a good thing as I haven't been out spending money. The holiday credit card bill wasn't too bad so everything is going to plan.
I'm still plodding on, saving money to pay the next 0% card in December and I am determined not to do another balance transfer. The card I paid off last month has already written with a tempting offer......
Number 54 £9751.38/£14420.00 67.62%
I'm setting myself a target of £75% for the end of October.

Well, still no luck on the job front, though I did at least get my first interview on Friday, so hopefully something may come of that.
Paid off a chunk of a credit card last week, as the 0% was about to run out, but I have a couple more 0% deals ending in early November, so I need to try to pay those off this month too.
£1744.69 paid off in September, making a total of £12732.59 for the year to date for #124Debt free since December 2015. It can be done0 -
Hi all
I'm not a member of this thread and feel its too late to join in now as we are in October.
I will be watching carefully for the DEBT FREE IN 2015 thread to pop up as fingers crossed we should finally be debt free in 2015.
Well done everyone you are all doing great. I am hoping to have gotten the debt down to about 9k by December.
Will be tough to kill off 9k in 1 year but I am determined that the debt will be gone next year.
