Hi wannabe credit free - welcome to the challenge, you're number 170.
Hi harrywillsucceed - thanks for waiting, you're number 171.
I'm visiting family this weekend, took out £60 on Friday thinking that would be plenty for the weekend, by last night I couldn't even afford to pay for my £3.50 chip supper£15 on gifts, £11 on lunch, £10 for cinema tickets, it adds up and it's very depressing! It's going to continue from there: concert today, dinner tonight, lunch tomorrow, £40 dentist fees on Tuesday. Hopefully I can expect some good news this week that will help bring an end to this madness :rotfl:

lots of us seem to be in the same boat at the moment as far as having extra money to pay off debts is concerned, but at least we are still here so that means we are still controlling our money and its not controlling us.
so my distractions for today-
i'm going out to do some work in my garden which I know will make me feel better.
I've decided to find 2 things that I can list on ebay.
I have also set myself the smaller goal of trying to get my overall debt down into the next thousand by the end of the month.i have just over £200 to go.
And lastly I am going to sit down and write a letter to a friend who wrote to me at Christmas and I didn't get round to replying yet.
if I manage to get these things done today I will be really pleased.
what other things are people doing today to take their mind off spending money?:):)

Huge congratulations maybe it's because.
I'm waiting for my loan to drop off my internet banking - probably tomorrow. Then I'll need to reassess. The holiday is booked on a 0% card so that'll take up two months worth of overpayments but it'll be paid off before we go. I've told OH that he has to pay his half off before we go too, although as he doesn't have any debt that's a bit easier for him.
I've been saving up for an airbrush compressor using ebay sales and left overs from my weekly treat money. I have an auction ending tonight so I should finally have enough (£110). Then I can crack on with my modelling again and hopefully bring in some extra money from selling those/commissions.0 -
Tiffany Aching - I feel like that too!! I get such a buzz from spending money, regardless of what it is, that I get withdrawal symptoms & get grumpy. I'm trying to transfer that buzz to saving money to pay off debt, but things keep happening so when I feel like I've got some pennies to pay towards CCs, I have to use them for an emergency situation! Grrr
For example, I planned March really well & on paper I'm under control - but my horse had a foot problem at the end of Feb resulting in a £237 vet bill for March - I haven't got any money put aside to cover this (and it's really not worth going through the insurance for this, as they begin to exclude other foot-related issues, so I might as well pay it to keep my monthly premium down).
Also, having done a 0% balance transfer towards the end of Feb, I didn't realise that I had gone past the statement date for the card I was transferring from, so I've had an additional £122 direct debit go out, when I thought I was all clear. I've had to use all of my current extra pennies from teaching to cover this, rather than saving them
Ooh, and I need to pay £183 for a weekend away that I booked ages ago, for my DH birthday. We go on the 22nd, so it's something to look forward too & we do desperately need a change of scene for a day or two, but I could really do without trying to find this as well.
Oh well, I got myself into this mess, so I guess I'll have to get out of it...
So today I will try to make inroads into this pesky money situation:- Teach 3 lessons (hopefully bring in £70)
- List two items on Ebay
- Not spend any money!!
- Dig out my dog insurance docs, to see if I can make a claim for his recent vet treatment
Chin up to all of you who are struggling on, and trying to make a difference

Pleased with myself today. Was bidding in something in eBay but it went over my set max and I didn't go over! Beforehand I probably would have bid until I got it!
Also sold two things but only made about £6, but it all helps!
My birthday is Tuesday and I've decided if I do get any money I'm going to treat myself in York at the weekend and that will hopefully stem my spendthrift urges as I am getting quite tempted.
Oh returning some shoes too but I'm well past the refund time so it'll just be a credit note, but that can also help curb a spend need later on! (Or hopefully my mum will want something and I can trade her!)0 -
Small payment of £45.00 today bringing the grand total to:
#101 £1002.85/2500
Can definitely relate to some of the posts above and I am one to try and factor in the odd treat to try and keep myself on track, I guess it's seeing every small payment as one step closer to being debt free, I keep visualising the day when I have no debt and can say 'yes' instead of 'no' and have savings in my account...(even though that is some way off -poss 2016/2017) !
...it's been pretty hard for me to make payments to the debt this month and we're only on the 10th..can tell this one is going to be a struggle. All the normal bills plus the quarterly DD's so that has made things a bit more difficult, having said that, I have achieved what I set out to do and that was to hit the £1000 mark...will keep tredging on and try to remain focused with all the temptations around!

i'm just dreadful with money unfortunately. i need to get better at it! it has been an expensive few months though .... however i also think that you need to be able to treat yourself once in a while- its not good to deprive yourself of absolutely everything!0
