Since I last posted we have become parents for the first time to a beautiful little girl and are completely head over heels for her.

I anticipated her arrival (nature gave me 9 months to plan :D ) so set up all the DDs and payments in case I was being held up in hospital/distracted with a newborn. Didnt want to burden the OH with the nightmare bank account transfer system I have set up to keep bills, savings, spends etc in their rightful place.

But all my plans have worked out and I can report a March payment of £815 this month.

    Totals paid so far are
    £2,075/£3,072 - 67.5%

We now have less than £1000 of debt left :T and are still on track to pay the last of it by May, I hope, assuming no surprises in the meantime.

I could have told you that! I've had windows 8 for a year now, and still hate it. I shouldn't still hate it after so long, but I can't find anything on it!
Hi! Please can I join?! I'm on a DMP as my signature shows but in addition I have a £6000 to pay back to family, so I want that to be the sum I pay back on here :-)
    Thanks!

Hi harry - will get a number for you in the morning, i'm not near my laptop just now for the spreadsheet!
Just feeling fed up this morning. We have been sticking to our budget for two months now and have made a good start following our LBM over Christmas, BUT I am now bored and feeling rebellious. The excitement of gaining control of our money has worn off. I'm a 43 year old adult yet this morning I feel like a petulant six year old - I'm fed up of following a budget, fed up of having to watch every penny in the supermarket and fed up of being in debt :(:

I often think budgeting is a bit like dieting. If you go too strict, you can find it hard to keep up. I will try to find something else to help in those circumstances - maybe a one off treat - £20 to 'splurge' in Primark/charity shops on something unnecessary, a waitrose meal that's normally out of your budget, something like that. The other risk is that you stop doing things, because doing things costs money, so you can also try a new hobby? Walking, going to the library or museum, going for a swim etc.

Warning, self centered post full of self pity. I just need to put this out there as I need to let it go!

I've crashed out and burnt :(

Just feeling fed up this morning. We have been sticking to our budget for two months now and have made a good start following our LBM over Christmas, BUT I am now bored and feeling rebellious. The excitement of gaining control of our money has worn off. I'm a 43 year old adult yet this morning I feel like a petulant six year old - I'm fed up of following a budget, fed up of having to watch every penny in the supermarket and fed up of being in debt :(

I'm not about to give up on this challenge and I'm sure that in a week or so when we hit payday (and I can get a bit of a high from paying some more debt off) then this feeling will go. I'm planning to spend some time reading the DFW Diary board today to find inspiration and feel a bit more positive - I don't usually 'do' footstomping and have no idea how this has managed to creep up on me!

It's probably best to ignore this mornings pity-party, it's only me invited and I'm not going to be good company! :rotfl:

I think we all go through this. I paid off all my debt last year (this years is my mums debt which I took on). I sold loads of stuff on eBay and set my self really tight budgets, didn't go on holiday etc etc. However, I got to February/march last year and I got really really fed up. This resulted in me going out and spending £600 on a handbag and purse which I didn't need, but I wanted. Maybe you need to go and buy something if that is what you are missing, it doesn't need to be expensive (my handbag was just an example) just get something you want. It worked for me, I had paid of my debts by august I think. Maybe it would work for you?

Have you done a debt snowball? That's motivated me, adding little payments and seeing the month to debt freedom go down? If not have a look at whatsthecost.com. I also made a list of what I was going to buy when I was debt free. I still haven't got anything from the list, because I don't actually need any of the things, so the list is still waiting until I need to replace the stuff I still have, I want a MacBook Air, mini coupe but my vaio and fiesta are still alive and kicking :D

I hope you don't think I am telling you what you should do, rather than just telling you my experience and what worked for me.

Come on Tiffany Aching, you can do it. What's on your list of things to buy when you are debt free???
