Deannatrois- Don't be too hard on yourself you are doing a great job, I have an Asd teen and its bloody hard work sometimes how I would cope with two children with it I don't know.
As for Christmas we found out years ago that DD's idea of Christmas was less than traditional so we sat her down and asked her what her ideal day would be as a result we have had some of the most relaxed Christmases ever over the last few years.
I still have relatives who think I should "force" a proper dinner etc on her but why just so she can conform to their ideal day !This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Nothing worse than eating something that you don't like just because it is expected of you! Christmas is a chance for families to spend time together so if that means eating a non traditional Christmas dinner then so be it.A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot, and realise how blessed you are.

Happy Birthday Feisty and PicnMix - hope you both had a lovely day.
Chrissy, must admit I had a chuckle when I saw it too although not sure I'd do it for the little ones lol.
Deannatrois, hindsight is a wonderful thing - please don't beat yourself up, sounds to me like you're doing a great job in a difficult situation.
IrishRose, that must have been so frustrating, hope you can at least get everything where it should be by post.
Jacqui, what a shame your treat had to be cancelled. I hope you find something to do at short notice that turns out to be even more fun.
Had a lovely day today babysitting DGSs although feeling a bit shattered now. How women my age have babies and cope is beyond me, a few hours and I've had it :rotfl:
Braving Aldi for my Christmas shopping tomorrow. Armed with my two vouchers (£15 off a £75 spend) I plan to get all the non-perishables and freezables for Christmas and up to mid-January. I'll make a special trip somewhere for the turkey crown and buy milk and veg in the village so hopefully I won't have to see the inside of a supermarket again until the shops are all quiet again. I'm definitely allergic to being squashed and standing in long queuesIt's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -

FLUFFYSOX glad you had a fab birthday and DS1 loved meeting Father Christmas at Thomas Land bless him, hope he feels better soon. I loved that book by Carole Matthews, hope you enjoy it too. DS2 looks adorable
Aw, thought I hadn't done it right, usually picture shows but this time, I couldn't get it to work. He is a a cutie, will be 14 months at Christmas but dainty so in 9-12 month clothes. Walking well now. I feel for your daughter, I had terrible pain after having DS2, DS1 was a c-section but I suffered less after that than I did after my second. (Forceps as he wasn't coming out after an hours pushing) There are no nice pics of me holding my baby, I couldn't sit or stand upright. DH was mummy. I cried to my mum and told her I needed Doctor to come out because I couldn't get there. My GP (lady doctor) came at lunchtime and district nurse came twice the same day. They sorted my problems out then I started to recover. Still for months I would burst into tears whenever I thought about missing out on my baby's first two weeks
Hope your daughter communicates how much she is suffering. I think sometimes we put on a brave front and don't let the doctors see how much we need them to do something xxx
Happy Birthdy Fiesty and Picnmix :T
Deannatrois, sounds like you are doing a great job. My three year old has been a little monster this weekend and I certainly have not dealt with him as I feel I should have. He woke me up yesterday by pulling my hair and pinching me with his nails (not his typical wake-up call) I said "I am not your friend because you have been horrible this morning" He said "Mummy I am going to cry if you don't love me" and he literally sobbed. I felt like a horrible person. Sometimes he really gets me stressed out. My nephew has ADHD and Aspergers and I feel real admiration for my sis-in-law's patience.
