Your new tree sounds splendid Chrissy - and the perfect reason to treat yourself to some new decorations too.
Feisty, glad the fayre was better than you expected. Hope you can get all your outstanding orders completed quickly and then you can really look forward to Christmas with DH.
Hope everyone else is ok. It's a bit difficult typing at the mo - I won't put the proper lights on because the tree lights look so much nicer without them and I keep hitting the wrong keys lolIt's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -
Evening. I will apologise first if there are lots of spelling mistakes, my wee reply windo is tiny. No idea what has happened so I can't see what I'm typing.
Sorry not had a minute to get on. I have been snowed under with work. Been getting myself really stressed. I usually enjoy these 2 weeks before Christmas, but until all my orders are posted, I can't relax.
I did manage to bake with the kids. We made cookies and 'Frozen' cupcakes. Baking always makes me feel more Christmassy.
I have written and sent all my cards. And just have a few more pressies to buy. Not done any wrapping though. Will need to start next week.
Hope you are all ok x:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
I have a ten year old christmas tree. Bought it cheap at Focus DIY before it got into trouble. Its fibre optic and has thick glossy branches.., but the legs disappeared somewhere so I've had to attach it to a table base for the last couple of years. Unfortunately I just couldn't buy an equivalent even if I paid four times the price I bought it for (would you believe £25).
So Its still surviving.
But I always seem to be ill at the moment so I've got all the xmas presents but haven't done anything about decorations. Well, except for buying a fabric advent calendar because the (word that probably won't be allowed on forum) but lovable mutts ate the two normal ones I'd got for my eight year old.
I don't know what it is.., Xmas decorations just seem more trouble than they are worth? I must be a killjoy.
Awful scene last night. My older son has aspergers.., my 8 year old shows some tendancies as well. My oilder son is at an LA performing arts college. If they put shows on he has to see them. I'd booked tickets for my younger son and I to accompany him to the Xmas show (Alice In Wonderland). To my surprise my younger son suddenly decided he didn't want to go (said out of the blue first of all that he was ill, then that he was scared of all the other people that would be there which is very out of character for him). Instincts told me he was too tired (was 5pm but he doesn't sleep well). Told my older son, who said let me speak to him I know what to say. What I didn't realise was he was emotionally blackmailing his brov. I heard younger son say 'Fine, I'll go' and then I spoke to older son. Something didn't sound right, responsible mother came to the fore and i told my older son I'd contact the college, explain younger son was sick and see if tickets could be arranged to another date (older son was emotionally black mailing me). My instincts were just telling me it wasn't a good idea to force younger son to go, something was up. Younger son heard me leaving a message with college and was screaming 'No, No' in the background. So I was simultaneously dealing with my older son threatening all sorts by text and a hysterical younger son in my arms who felt he was letting his brother down badly.
It was all out of context for my older son (he was in what I call melt down but was little I could do), did get him calmed down eventually (He was still at college, so had to do this long distance. Same for his younger brother. who once he was calm enough went to bed, to sleep, out like a light.
But oh dear, what a mess. Obviously felt totally incapable. Feel rather like an abuser cause I should have done things differently. Wished I hadn't handed the phone over. No one realises that these things happen. Older son is diagnosed but there is no specialist help at all, and GP doesn't seem to know where to refer him. Last night was a nightmare. Not really looking forward to Xmas.0 -
Evening everyone. Hope all is well. Cuddles and Love to all who need them, and of course to those who don't too!
I'm having a rare quiet moment so thought I would pop on. I have now nearly officially finished my Christmas shopping :j Just have to pop into town tomorrow to pick up the last 2 things off the kids list - their last minute asks lol. They're on offer ATM and they kept them quiet in Argos when I had to pick a few things up the other day :rotfl:
SO I've those to pick up and vouchers for mother and mother-in-law and thats me done.
Have had the week from hell this week. Between being run off our feet in work, and not been well myself this week, the cold has knocked me off my feet and was up half the night with a migraineTo top it all off we are supposed to be in England this weekend, but thanks to the problems at the airports yesterday we had to come home again as it wouldn't have been worth our while going this morning and coming back tomorrow
So now have to arrange for Christmas gifts to be posted over at some stage this week:mad:
Am sitting down for a cup of tea now and going to make a start at the Christmas cards next.Pay all debt off by Christmas 2025 £815.45/£3,000£1 a day challenge 2025 - £180/£730 Declutter a bag a week in 2025 11/52Lose 25lb - 10/25lbs Read 1 book per week - 5/52Pay off credit card debt 18%/100%0 -
Nic, my reply thing went mad as well, not much box and the page suddenly 3 x the size! Very odd
My tree is new this year - £10/11 ish from Sainsburys including 2 huge bits of tinsel and 4 packs of baubles and a star
Been very good, got all my ingredients I needed for cakes and have done a whole heap of Crochet - am very pleased. Cake making tomorrow and Monday will be icing. I can't find my roll of clear wrap so may have to go smile at the florist lol.
Just going to do some wrapping up and list checking but I think, possibly -just maybe I have all but 3 things which are a case of popping to town and something for my other half. Still stumped there though!
Free - been thinking about your daughter all day, how is she?Life happens, live it well.0 -
Deannatrois, how difficult, on other threads I read of people who seem to get the support they need with a.s. children, or should I say SOME support. It seems a very uneven playing field.
How frustrating, Irish Rose. Good luck with the posting.
I've had the same Christmas tree (4ft, green, does its damndest to look real) since 1981.
It was very expensive at the time and I want to get my money's worth ......Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Evening everyone, it is almost laughable but where is my christmas spirit this year????? I couldnt be more miserable or less festive!!! The only thing that cheered me up today was finding the Christmas TV mag on sale, one of my favourite things to do, circle all the christmas tv :rotfl:i am watching christmas films every afternoon and reading a christmassy book but still NADA - ZILCH - NOTHING :xmassmile
PEPPAPIG thankyou, yes i wish they would too, she has her 6 week check up on Monday for her and baby and i have told her to insist on them getting it sorted so fingers crossed, aah im glad you all had a lovely day out to see The Snowman and DGD thought it was wonderful
FEISTY thankyou my lovely, i dont blame you for sticking to the Etsy ones, its such a shame that they have gotten so bad these days, i think people just look at crafts now and think i could do that for cheaper more than they ever did before
CHRISSYG DD2 got their christmas tree from Argos too, in the sale they saved about £40, fab value
DEANNATROIS ah sending you hugs my lovely, hope you feel better soon, and dont think you were a failure and didnt react properly, its really hard sometimes to know what to do for the best when things suddenly flare up, im sure many many parents have felt the same too, i know i have x
NIC aww dont stress yourself out honey, otherwise by christmas day you will have burnt yourself out
IRISHROSE sorry your weekend to england didnt work out, how blooming annoying, i think it has had an effect on flights today too
WILLOWLOULOU oh thankyou for thinking of her, she still has the pain, but did look a lot better today, she has check up on monday so hopefully they will sort what to do next, i still have to buy my baking ingredients i worked out on mysupermarket how much it came to and it was £60 flaming eck!!!!#103 1p Saving Challenge Back to Front 293.94/665.95Currently Reading: Christmas at Cedarwood Lodge - Rebecca Raisin Debt Free thanks to MSE0 -

Chrissy G I say every year I'm going to buy a new tree in the sales but it never happens.
Freespirit hugs for your daughter and baby. My first grandson is 8 weeks and my DS struggles with his grumbles, especially at night as he's not a good sleeper and her birth went ok no pains so I can imagine how your poor daughter must be. And you as a worrying mum/nan. My DD has anxiety and agrophobia so struggles at times. We can do what we can but it's upsetting isn't it when it spoils them enjoying there new baby.
Irish Rose it sounds chaos for you hope things settle down.
Deannatrois hope things settle for you too, and you and your boys enjoy the play when you can.
Hugs to others who are not having the best times or poorly.
Love reading about the family/friends days and nights out. I was looking forward to ours today, about 12 of us from our bigger family to a family fun day at local park. Santa, hog roast etc. But with most of us either poorly, skint or both have to leave it. Gutted as it was mainly for my toddler niece, hopefully we'll find something else in the week.
1 person bought for about 20 to go!! Its not looking good lol.0
