I must admit that I do like giving and receiving Christmas cards.

I therefore buy charity Christmas cards. This year I bought 3 boxes of the luxury charity ones from Tesco.

I do know that not all the funds go to the charity, but this way they are at least still getting some of my money :D

And I did the linkforhope shoe boxes this year, so feel that that was my charitable contribution for the festive season.

I like sending cards too but the majority of my cards have to be posted and I am finding the postage costs are getting more and more rediculous:(

  • hope you had a great birthday 3forholidays

hope everyone is well and about ready for christmas now.

ive hand delivered most of the local cards today and did what i thought was the last parcel run to the post office then came back and saw another present under the tree that needs posting, so got to nip that one down as well.
going to a panto tomorrow with the school i work at (all together now "oh yes i am" LOL)
need to whack the marzipan on the cake this week then get it iced.

got to write the work cards tomorrow as well and do some more wrapping.

    Morning ladies,
I have decided rather than an Advent next year we are doing a lucky dip. I will get a large gift bag for each of us in the sales and but and wrap things over the year.
Nothing much on here today a bit of shopping later and washing/ironing then just a general tidy up. Sounds so exciting .LOL

bunbun I love to send and receive cards but I have a couple of people I send to who don't send but make a charity contribution but I don't mind, at least I know they aren't being bah humbug and just not sending one :) Plus postage costs are silly prices!! Hopefully those you send too will not bother.
Oooo chrissy I love that idea, I might have to steal it :p
:rotfl: freespirit I might have a check of it before buying first.

Sat and filled next years calendar in so now I can plan what cards and gifts I need properly for the first couple of months. Going to amend my Christmas gift list around as I actually missed a two cousins and partners off who we just get a small gift for the couple - que last weekend quickly running in to Sainsbugs and picking up a tin of biscuits and bottle of wine :wall:
If at all possible hoping to be even more organised all round next year ;)

    Happy Birthday 3forholidays for yesterday!

I think Saint Nick is getting a bit nasty.., my older son's room has bed bugs again Arrrrgh. Just spent £50 on sprays etc, knowing there's no guarantee they'll work and preparing for lots of steaming and washing.

This reminds me of a christmas about 6 years ago. It took 6 months for us to appeal and be awarded DLA/extra tax credit payments. I'd been struggling terribly on just income support. Back payments came in so I bought my older son a couple of games consoles to replace ones that had broken but I hadn't been able to replace for Xmas that year. It had been a generally yukky year for him so this was my way of making it up to him.

    Neither of them worked.

Then I managed to produce the most inedible Xmas dinner ever (last time I did that).

Of course, my son was heartbroken. You can try all you like to tell an aspergers kid they are lucky because we have a good family.., there are more important things than presents, it doesn't mean a lot.., not compared to his obsession lol. I got thru the day somehow and it makes any small Xmas disasters seem minimal lol.

You KNOW there are people experiencing Christmas who've lost loved ones, who couldn't afford to eat, who've lost their homes.., but somehow the daily grind still gets to you? Its wrong, I know, I should know how lucky I am. And I am.

Freespirit - I wonder if your daughter has tried hot water bottles? When the pain is really bad, you do have to be careful to not burn your skin though, as the pain from the spine can be so bad, you aren't aware of what's happening with your skin. Used with care, I have found them to help (but it does depend on what's causing the pain of course).
