I agree with Feisty about writing in books. It is difficult to re-gift a book, donate it or pass it on if someone has written a name or personal message in it.

Perhaps a loose sheet of paper can be used instead and passed on with the book?

Welcome back Bunbunand well done on the improvements you made to your health, it can’t have been easy but definitely worth it.

Woo hoo, huge congratulations Freespirit, so glad to know that Max has arrived safe and sound. Will you be Nan/Nanny or Gran/Granny? We’ve always gone for Nan in our family although my Mum’s Nan was apparently always called Gran.

Fiery Angel – so glad you shared on here, I knew the lovelies on this thread would understand.

Well done Irish Roseand very glad to hear that the dentist was nice. I think if you get a good one then stick with them lol.

Not done anything much on the Christmas front today but have GDG here for a couple of days so we’ve been to a Halloween thing at the local garden centre which was good – the children coated apples in melted chocolate and covered it in sprinkles, then did their own pumpkin head and then we all (and I mean all) joined in with singing and doing actions to Monster Mash. It was actually quite good fun. Tomorrow night it’s the Halloween Circus at the same garden centre then DGD goes home Saturday evening.

As it's November on Saturday I'm going to start wearing my Christmas Pandora bracelet and I'll carry on wearing it until Boxing Day when the Christmas charms will come off and go back into storage until next year.
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :
  • IM A NANA :T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T

Just had a phone call from DD2 i could barely understand she sounded drugged up to the eyeballs saying 'Hes Here' and thats all i know she was just speaking gobbledegook :rotfl::rotfl:she went into proper labour yesterday about 6pm went into hosp about midnight but she was only 3cm dilated so they said she would be better off at home, then 7am her waters went, that is all i know and although i missed the birth i am just so thankful that he is here safe and sound and she is ok, will update you later with the details

Huge congrats to you all freespirit! All the best to you and your family xxx

hello please can I come back!

    huge congratulations freespirit:j:j

well alot has happened since I was here last year...

I have recovered from my diagnosis of pre diabetes and lowered my blood glucose levels from 46 to 34 which I am over the moon about. I have worked out what I can eat and what I can't and now eat a low carb diet. I have lost 2 stone 1lb and am now under 8 stone.

I also have a new job...dinner lady at a local primary school.

Anyway back to Christmas...after handing his notice in summer 2013 (after a long spell on the sick with depression) he is now working as a supply teacher. He is so much happier but has taken a huge reduction in salary so money is quite tight. Both boys have had school/scout trips this year so Christmas presents will be low key. I am doing them both (and OH) a movie/treats hamper. All other family presents will be hampers which are mostly done.

I am looking forward to being back on here and joining in with the chat!

Welcome back lovely! You have done so well, I really hope you feel proud of yourself :)

    Wowee, what a cutie!

Well it's gone 10pm and I'm still working. Technically I'm supposed to be off this week, but stupidly hadn't prepared for the first of our Christmas Craft Fairs Sunday, so now running around like a headless chicken trying to make up stock and displays :(

I usually find a postcard - I get sent a few as freebies through the year- and write on that, then slip it into the book. Makes a handy bookmark too. I do buy books second hand, often out of print cook books for a penny (literally) from Am@zon & I find that most have been written in. It must gall s/h booksellers.

I have a confession to make i am going to have to hide with no lights on tonight from the trick or treaters as i have EATEN ALL THE SWEETS :eek::eek:

PEPPAPIG thankyou, yes my family has always gone for Nan/Nanny but i want to be different and have gone for Nana, i dont know why?? His other nana (DD2s OHs mum) wants to be known as Gran, i dont know whether that is a family thing or not. Aah i bet your DGD loved yesterdays halloween event. What a fab idea having christmas charms and normal everyday charms, i keep saying no to the kids about having more charms as mine is full but that would be a good way for them to get me some

FEISTY thankyou my lovely, oh blimey is it time for christmas fairs already??? Good Luck!

Freespirit, my ds thinks that nans are young & grans are old. So he tells my mum often, you're still a nanny not a granny. She's loves the compliment.
I don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.

Nit nurse I literally only have a few pages left (told you it was a good read ;)) if you PM me your address I can get it sent on. The message in the front sounds great, but I can't make myself write in books, it was one of the strictest things my mother insisted on when I was younger lol x

See this is something I'm now torn on.... im the kind of person who doesnt even break the spines on a book my bookcase is full of read books that look brand new. But... last Christmas I was given a book made up of letters from the front of books. Wish I could remember what it was called, but it warmed me to the idea lol. X
I hope you know your capable, & brave, & significant.

Ooooh, I've just been naughty and bought more presents from TBook People - they've got 15% off today (see their web page for discount code). Also, I went through TCashback and will get 6% back as well :)

So 13 books for DD or to use as presents for her chums, 1 for mummykins and 3 for me for a total of £25!! :):):)

(MUST stop spending money, my bank account is looking a bit unhealthy, but I love buying books for people)

Also found a fab FB page for children's christmassy crafts, am so going to get my class to make an egg box nativity in the final week :) They're year 4, but I reckon they'll love it!
