you don't normally get to pick a specific vehicle at the hotel car hire locations - they may have more than one in the class you have booked and may ask which you prefer (they obviously have fewer vehicles on site) but you don't go to a row and pick the one you want. You don't see the cars until you've got your paperwork and headed to the garage at those hotels we've rented at.

we always pick up at TI now the day after we arrive, it's just more relaxed for us that picking up straight after arriving. We have usually been happy with what we have gotten - once we got a 'mini SUV' that was a free upgrade but terrifying to me as I drive a small car, but I ended up liking it overall...but I always look at it as worst case scenario if I hate the car I get at TI I could drive to the rental facility and swap it for something else. So far I haven't had to swap it out.

Hours at the hotel desk can be limited - most close for a lunch hour and most are really busy in the morning (everyone wanting to get their car to go out for the day) with only one or two people on the counter so the queues can take awhile...we've stood in a queue for almost an hour to pick up a car in the morning...picking up in the afternoon at TI is usually quiet and quick. The lady there told us once that after lunch is normally their quiet time.

    ohhhh, decisions decisions!!!
Still got to pick a hotel for 3 nights (got 3 nights Aria and 5 nights Monte Carlo booked already)...............
    May 25th (memorial wkend!) - May 28th....
Can get Luxor for £130 inc R Fee......
    But..........
Elara are saying they will do me a Junior suite for £185....
    Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut.......................
I just noticed today that Travelrepublic.co.uk are doing:
Signature for £138 + Pay the Resort fee on checkin, which in theory brings the total to £188.......
Lowcostusa do an all in for £245, so defo a good deal if its true!

Signature ? Elara ? hmmmmmmmmmm ! Pools are good in both!
For some reason though, I feel hesitant with travelrepublic, as the room booking for that one is different from all the others (it says they pass my details to the hotel, which is kinda strange ?!)

I cannot comment on travelrepublic as I have never used them. However, it might be that the rooms they have are the room for rent that are owned. If you look on expedia signature comes up twice - once as Luxury suites International At The Signature and The Signature At MGM Grand.

I stayed at The Signature about 15 months ago and absolutely loved it = great rooms (loved the kitchen area); access to their small pools and the ability to use the MGM main pools; easy to get to MGM on the moving walkways; easy (about 5 minutes walk) out of the gate along E Harmon Ave to the side of Planet Holywood.
  • Whilst I am here, just to totally satisfy my mind before I book :

On myvegas can I book a weekend room at MC, and then can my wife book a weekend room at MC? I take it that it will then be easy to link the 2 together, and that they will not make us change rooms.

I am looking at booking Signature 26th May to 30th May as the rates are great, but the price shouts up for Friday 30th and Saturday 31st. We then travel home on Sunday 1st June.

Thanks. I need to weigh up if it is worth hiring to collect at airport on arrival (but probably park up and not drive again that day) and have the choice. If the day cost equates similar to a cab then may just do that. Then just drop it off at one of their strip hotel locations.

    Cheers for the info! :D
Just looked into the 'Sig' listed on Expedia, am guessing the more expensive one is probably the rooms run by Jet Resorts, etc...

The Travelrepublic option I think could be a bit of gamble, as they don't list the resort fees on the page, and it states the payment details are sent to the hotel... (almost like changing the contract between you and Travelrepublic....)
As much as I would like to stay there and it sounds a great deal, its the lack of info and choice wording (few words!) which creates doubt!

Am double kicking myself again now, past few days, could hire a fullsize car with dollar for 1 week (usrentacar), with fuel+X-Driver... for £143!
But instead of booking (knowing its a dammmmm good price), I choose to wait, as last year on the 25th Feb, Alamo were doing Prem and Converts for less than midget cars!
So was hoping they would possibly do the same....
So although I will hope that they do it again same day in 4 days time, USrentacar prices have shot back up to the normal prices (£157), grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !!!!!!!!! :D:D:D
oh the stresses of trying to save a few quid here and there! haha ! :D

Have you purchased any big chip packages? In small amounts I've spent about a total of £20 already but only have 24,000 LP. (I kind of see it as a small investment as I have been able to build numerous strip properties fairly quickly) But am putting the spending on hold for at least a few weeks! It seems as though I may have been better to do one big chip purchase compared with multiple $5 and £1.86 spends on the mobile app.

I (and OH) did a couple of the $5 last year and that put me up to 6 rewards (until they changed it all and reduced them to 4). So last November between OH & myself, we had 8 wonderful rewards.
    Thank you all who post.

that sounds like a plan...for me, I used to always collect at the rental facility upon arrival but once we decided to leave it to the next day and take a taxi. Since then I have never picked up upon arrival. The cost of the taxi and the savings on the rental probably cancel each other out - but not getting off a plane and having the faff of the shuttle, then the rental car queue, then the drive...just jump in a taxi and head to the hotel makes it more than worth it to us. :)

I kind of wish we would have bought chips when $5 increased rewards...but other than that I can't see any benefit in buying chips.

on my account, I bought x2 lots of $9
    & got 4 rewards (strange!)
On wifes account, did x3 lots of $9 and was still on 3... bought the $39 package and its now on 4 (total: £40 total)
I play both accounts daily, so no idea why it did that...
only difference, I hadn't picked any rewards, but hers, we had recently just done the 3 rewards for Aria, so maybe cos I had my 3 rewards still, that's why it might have been cool with me ?!
dunno, but figured the £40 in chips for her, will be the aria buffet or MC $100 piano drinks voucher, or anything that is worth over $90... :D
I estimate we make around 10k LP's per week...
