we chose seats for our return flight this morning. It's not nearly as exciting as chosing seats for the outbound leg.

same here :D are we on the same flight?!

got bubble seats, but not the same 2 as the way out - someone beat me to it!

ha! 25th? We got the same seats we did on the flight out and were most pleased...I reckon the knowledge that seating opens at 8am and not bang on 60 days before to the departure time is a powerful thing (thanks penny!)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

  • Good evening all,

Myself and 11 others will be heading to Vegas for my stag party in May 2015 and I was wanting some advice:

    1. When is the best time to book? I realise flights are only released approximately 1 year in advance.

    2. Which hotels would you recommend? I'm thinking either the Aria, Encore or Cosmopolitan ATM. Want to be somewhere nice but a central location is important too.

    3. I'm from Northern Ireland so will need to travel to the UK as I want to fly direct to Vegas- only planning on going for 4 nights and don't want to waste any time on stopovers.

    4. A few of my friends (5 or 6) are wanting to travel to San Fran or LA for another 4 night afterwards- are they better to fly or drive down?

    Thanks in advance!
  • 1 I will only answer part1 - in your opinion what price is good for you? Where are they now in relation to that? Airlines normally release flights 11 months in advance - BA and Virgin tend to have a couple of sales a year.
One other thing - book your own flight - let your mates do the same - then if anybody can't go then your holiday is not affected.

I'm hoping the 4 nights will cost approximately £1,000. I will probably make the booking for the group but request deposits etc. up front. I'm not concerned about people dropping out- everyones as keen as I am- it was their idea!

with about 5 minutes lead time I could probably find you 10 threads where people thought the same initially and things didn't work out as planned. :) Let everyone book their own flights at least. Hotels can wait until later to the time and booking direct you won't have to pay more than the first night's deposit up front.

On the hotels question Encore is not centrally located. Depending on the age group I would imagine that Cosmo might be a good choice. Encore is more quiet and classy overall, I suppose...though it's far from 'stuffy'.

Assuming you would go over a weekend, I would think that 4 nights at those hotels with direct flights for £1k could be a bit tight...but no way to really know what prices will be like that far out.

  • Our flights booked last October for March 10th (yippee only 2 weeks to go!!) came to £550 each.
Without the BA sale we were looking at nearly £700 each - Gatwick to Vegas. So have enough credit available to take advantage of any sale!

I would reiterate - book your own flights - believe me 11 of you - not all will go - something will come up - the worst part for you could be one of your mates saying he has no money to go; the booking being in your name you could be lumbered with paying for him - as I say it can get messy!

On point 4 - driving is probably more fun and dead easy to LA - just one straight road! Depends what kind of experience they are looking for.

We flew from San Fran to Vegas last time and it took about an hour on a dead cheap fare with SouthWest - a no frills airline but the added bonus that there is no extra charge for checked in baggage.
