We stayed in the Octavius tower last year, great room, made sure we got a room overlooking the fountains. my wife cried when we walked in to the room she was so happy
edit
3 big positives for the Octavius
seperate check in desk just inside the door from Flamingo and there is never a queue
seperate valet parking off Flamingo, right outside the same door
those both apply to Augustus as well
thirdly we had a room at the strip end of Octavius so it was less than a minute from room to strip (again using the door on flamingo)0 -
Thank you both. I've gone and booked the Octavius for 3 nights over the weekend while I'm there. I considered the Cosmo but the rates over the weekend were very high and I need 2 rooms as I'm taking my dad too. I managed to get a $170 a night for the Friday and Saturday which I thought was quite good for a weekend.
I've got my first 4 nights at the mirage which I'm hoping by August I'll have enough myvegas points to swap them into free rooms and then after caesars I have 4 nights in a corner suite at Aria.0 -
Some hotels have a price list on their website...Paris is $1 page and that seems about what I recall other places. Some hotels also have computer stations where you can pay an amount for a set number of minutes and can also print for a fee...
At some hotels if you ask nicely at the concierge desk they will give you an email address to send something to them to print for you...though admittedly when we have done this (Encore) we have been paying a resort fee so it may have been part of that anyway. But if there's something with their players club that you have to print something then maybe they would do it for you, or the players club desk might...I haven't heard of anything like that before either.
It might be worth considering Kinko's...if you're going on a road trip they have them all over the place and might be cheaper...if they still do what they used to you could buy a pre-paid card for $xx and use it at any of their locations. I think printing was maybe $0.10 a page or something but that was ages ago...and there was a cost to use a PC as well but I don't recall it being that much.
I'm staying at a couple of Best Westerns. Have emailed and they have business centre with printing for free they say. Not heard back from hotel yet.
Kinko's is not Fedex Office. Couldn't find a a price from in store self-service but tried the online service where you upload a file. Full colour is 75c a page or less if you go for 24lb paper. B&W is 14c/page with 24lb paper. That seems like my best option if the hotel isn't free.0 -
It seems the wranglers are moving? not a very big stadium though.
Rooftop Hockey: Downtown's Plaza is building a 3,500-seat arena on its roof to host the Las Vegas Wranglers hockey team. The 45,000-square-foot fabric-shell structure will occupy the area that's currently home to the Plaza's tennis and basketball courts, plus the pool (the latter of which is slated to remain). As part of the deal, the fifth floor of the Plaza's south tower will be converted to locker rooms, medical space, and bathrooms. The new insulated structure is expected to take five months to assemble, and will be home to additional midnight games to cash in on downtown's thriving nightlife scene. The new facility is expected to be ready for Wranglers league play by November and will also be used for public skating, concerts, and other events.
anyone know why
EDIT answered my own question.
strange that they get average attendences of 5000 but the new arena will only hold 3500
The Las Vegas Wranglers minor league hockey team will begin playing their home games next season at a new, yet-to-be-built arena at the Plaza.
The downtown property will build a 3,500-seat arena on the fifth floor pool and event deck located between its hotel towers. The Wranglers have been playing their home games at the relatively cavernous Orleans Arena which holds almost 10,000, but their contract there was not renewed. The Wranglers' contract to play at The Plaza will be for the next five seasons with an option to extend another five. The Wranglers have been averaging almost 5,000 in attendance this season so games should be overflowing with intensity and excitement next season.
It normally takes years to build an arena, but this won’t be your traditional area setup. The new arena at the Plaza is being built specifically for the Wranglers. The arena will be a fabric shell on a metal structure. In essence, a souped-up tent. The company overseeing its construction has experience building such structures and has designed venues like the Olympic Training Facility in Chula Vista, Calif. If you’ve seen “Absinthe,” imagine a similar, but much larger creation.
There has been no announcement as to when tickets will go on sale or how much they’ll cost.0 -
That's brilliant - I did similar a while ago and managed to level up 60 times so giving me 60,000 lp's. Only stopped because I had to go to bed lol
Have you purchased any big chip packages? In small amounts I've spent about a total of £20 already but only have 24,000 LP. (I kind of see it as a small investment as I have been able to build numerous strip properties fairly quickly) But am putting the spending on hold for at least a few weeks! It seems as though I may have been better to do one big chip purchase compared with multiple $5 and £1.86 spends on the mobile app.Baby daughter born 13.2.10 :j 6lb 11.5oz0 -

I go next week to Vegas!!! Looking at the weather forecast and wondering what to take as it states the weather will be 23-25 degrees in the day on some forecasts, others state 17! Think I will leave my packing till Sunday.
There is the Grand canyon trip to the south rim that states that its about 55f presently.
Atlanta is 14 degrees and New York 1 degrees the following week. The inside of the airports will be warm!
Best take a mixed bag of clothes!0 -

ohhhh, decisions decisions!!!
Still got to pick a hotel for 3 nights (got 3 nights Aria and 5 nights Monte Carlo booked already)...............
May 25th (memorial wkend!) - May 28th....
Can get Luxor for £130 inc R Fee......
But..........
Elara are saying they will do me a Junior suite for £185....
Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut.......................
I just noticed today that Travelrepublic.co.uk are doing:
Signature for £138 + Pay the Resort fee on checkin, which in theory brings the total to £188.......
Lowcostusa do an all in for £245, so defo a good deal if its true!
Signature ? Elara ? hmmmmmmmmmm ! Pools are good in both!
For some reason though, I feel hesitant with travelrepublic, as the room booking for that one is different from all the others (it says they pass my details to the hotel, which is kinda strange ?!)0 -
Car hire question for you...
We are planning 12 nights and want a car for 2/3 days fot Hoover Dam possibly GC (did them by helicopter last time so looking for a different experience).
Anyway question is how do people usually play it - I am not sure about going to the rental centre and collecting as soon as flight arrives so, are there locations on the strip that have a decent choice of vehicles? Or is it worth travelling back to McCarran a few days in?
Interested to know what others do!0
