We got caught in the aftermath an hour or so later, as we tried to get back to the hotel from TI, going via. Kovel.
Water was literally knee deep.

Hubby noticed this at lunch...we had been talking about taking my in-laws again next year...my FIL in particular was really keen and it's a big birthday for him...we had originally rejected March for his actual birthday due to March Madness/spring break and just thinking we should avoid it...and were thinking April...then hubby checked the reward seat sale and noticed the exact dates we would want to go if we went in March were available in PE.
We got on the phone with my in-laws straight away with the 'no pressure, but...' discussion and booked 4x PE seats for a total of £1638 + 200k miles...now I know that many will say there are better ways to use the miles if we did some fancy stuff...but we never do and PE reward seat availability is so limited on this route.
we checked cash fares and the same 4 tickets would today (I know it may be different in the next normal sale) have cost us £4660. So we're OK with saving £3k on these 4 tickets vs whatever else we might have done with the miles - particularly as we were looking to book something in the next few months and never expected to spend only £400 each for PE return to Vegas.
:jDoes remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

The best use of miles is seen as buying a fully upgradable 'M' fare and upgrading using your miles but the problem is getting availability, especially if you need 4 seats!
I think you have got a good deal :T
If anyone has flown with VA in the past 6 months buying miles with miles booster has 25% bonus too.0 -

Thank you.
Also, I was thinking on the way home...since we only paid the taxes and if you cancel a flight you can claim the taxes back less any admin fee...and I had a look at Virgin's website and am I interpreting it correctly that there would be only a £30 fee if it happened we had to cancel (before 24 hours before the flights).
I think someone here mentioned before that reward flights are cancellable...
Is that right? If something (not covered by travel insurance which of course we all have) caused any of us to have to cancel that would be our only loss?Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
that is incredible...trying to decide if it would be a nightmare or kind of fun it it's insanity...I mean as the average Vegas visitor who had no personal injury or loss as a result of this.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Thank you.

Yes all miles bookings are refundable (minus the £25 or £30 charge) up to the day before the flight now, so you would not lose your miles if you did have to cancel. I think it was only last year that they changed this to align themselves with BA policy.0
