front room almost sorted!.. there are sofas and flat surfaces and a strange thing I think which is called a floor in there!!!!!!!!!!!

New roasting pans arrived smashed to pieces!!! I could cry! My teapot is in one piece though thank goodness!!! .. I need to knit it a cosy!

everyone fed.. apart from me as there wasn't enough to go around but never mind.. the children have plenty.

Bath and stockings tonight.. :) (we are doing santa tonight.. to make MY week easier and less unsettling for the children)

I need to wrap OH's stuff but other than that I'm done. OH and I have decided we are not doing presents tomorrow we are doing them on 25th when it is less hectic and we are less tired.. and will save some bits back for the 3 girls so they don't want ours.

  • :santa2: This wil be my last post until after Xmas.

We have an unplanned return trip to Hertfordshire tomorrow to pick up DS - only way we can ensure he'll get home due to the weather and travel disruptions. He has a ticket for the now last direct train on C Eve but seat reservations are meaningless and so many trains have been cancelled already we do not want to see him either stuck at London Euston over Xmas or crashing at his friend's London flat on his own and without food.

Keep your fingers crossed we make it there and back in one piece please.

So here's wishing you all a very Merry Christmas. xxxx

  • Here's what I've done already - I've been quite busy today.

    Monday Mayhem

    • Make sure you have all the shopping you need to take you through to next week.. milk and bread especially! It is Bank Holiday on Thursday so some shops are not open.. the big supermarkets are. We did a weekly shop last Friday evening and then joined in what we have nicknamed the Marathon Madness that is Morrisons this morning - it was pure bedlam.
    • Make sure the last of the presents are nearly wrapped. I will not have people sitting up into the early hours on Christmas morning wrapping! Just a couple of presents left - when I can remember exactly where I stashed them!
    • Have we located stockings? Done!
    • S&S the kitchen - My hips will feel this in the morning!
    • S&S the bathroom/s and loo's Done, well upstairs is anyway - downstairs is now a lovely shade of pink, but no sanitaryware installed yet!
    • Make sure your timetable for christmas day is sorted and everyone knows their tasks.. who is spud peeling? Who is stuffing the bird etc..? In my head everything is rosy because I'm the one who's cooking, the boys will be playing - they can do the washing up afterwards!
    • Phone someone you 'forgot' to post a card/present to in time.. just so they know you've not forgotten them... Called a cousin in a far away place.
    • [STRIKE]Change pet bedding and wash blankies etc.. we don't want them putting you off your christmas sprouts![/STRIKE] Don't have any pets!
    • Dust round the whole downstairs
    • Have a crazy HHC decluttering downstairs
    • Children... quick.. tidy your rooms you don't want Santa thinking you don't look after your stuff.. he might not leave any presents!
    • Vacuum through downstairs.. and the stairs!
    • Mop the kitchen floor! Done!
    • Get rid of the washing up.. delegation is good! Sorted!
    • Get out any special christmas crockery and make sure it is all clean and nice to use.. placemats etc too!
    • Declutter your desk.. or anywhere else that has all your paperwork on.
    • Hopefully you have had a skim through the TV guide and decided what you want to watch.. it saves missing bits of stuff if you know what is on and when!! If not then make 5 minutes to do it today. Don't forget to make time for Queenie!
    • Toy boxes can be banished upstairs!
    • Tidy up coats and shoes and suchlike
    • WRAP WRAP WRAP!
    • Spend at least half an hour doing something for yourself.. reading.. relaxing.. goggling... remember you are important too.
    My List:

I have a gingerbread house to put together but I cannot see it being erected until New Year's Eve!

Prepare desserts for Christmas Eve Dinner & Tea
Change the bed sheets and duvet covers on all the beds
Ironing basket nearly empty - just a few more bits to iron and I will be clear to start anew in 2014.

    Relax Relax Relax!!!!

Roof of the sun room is leaking so can't do any washing in the WM in case it effects the electrics *roll eyes smiley*

To do before the big day:

    Ice christmas cakes
Complete my nieces cardy - just the sleeves to do
Drop presents off to various locations
    HHI
    Make mince pies

    Evening all.

Spare bed remade with all under blankets / mattress covers washed and dried. Will strip mine and DDs beds in morning. Have a couple of gifts to wrap tonight and want to find the small basket for the Christmas Eve "hamper" - we have new pjs, "the night before christmas" book, some treats and sticker books.

Think I may even pop up in the loft and grab the spiral tree and pop it up in the conservatory. I'll be bringing a tub chair in so there will be a free corner.

I also need to put together the grandparent bags: just some home made bits. I can do those tomorrow, have lots of gift bags.

Ooh, that reminds me - I need to add some coloured ribbon to two of the kids presents, they are identical and you just know it will cause trouble ;) so need to be able to identify them.

JTTOU I hope you manage to collect DS and all get back safely. I have a parcel to collect but it's not christmas stuff so won't matter if we can't get out. Just watching the weather forecast now - a possible sprinkling of snow for us!!! Luckily for us we have nowhere to go and our guests don't have far to come to us.

Tunis cake is in the oven.
DN(ephew)'s cupcakes have been made. Bad Aunty put them in the oven then found another packet of sugar so lord knows what they'll taste like.
Dislike packet cooking for this reason :o.

Car tax has been ordered and paid for. Only £30 now for smaller engine :D. MOT to be booked after the festivities.
