Just popping on to wish you all a Very Happy Christmas....hope to be back in the New Year...suffering with illness at the moment (bad attack of Menaires reared its ugly head a few weeks ago on top of everything else and only just shaking it off )..Love to all xxxFeeding 6 Adults 1 Teen a 8 year old with hollow legs and a very fussy 5 year old. I have cleaned out my bathroom cabinet - so that THE PLUMBER COULD ACCESS THE LEAK!
just gone midnight and the electricity blew - about to reset when we heard water - running through the light fitting in the dining room...called BG (I have 3 star cover inc. plumbing) and they could send someone out today.
After much wailing and gnashing of teeth at the prospect of my 3 year old bathroom being ripped apart to find said leak it turned out to be tha drain, a bit has come loose but has been fixed with NOTHING HAVING TO BE REMOVED.
Go British Gas 3 star cover -not cheap; I get my boiler serviced annually but being able to get a plumber on Christmas Eve? PRICELESSDon't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

OK, let's see what I need to cover from today's list......:o
:xmastree: Christmas Eve - FRANTIC FRENZY :xmastree:
- Make a note of when the binmen are coming!!! TODAY!! Bag is out; they'll next be here Thursday next week (noted in PDA so we won't forget)
- Spend half an hour doing NOTHING!!.. absolutely nothing!!!! Just sit.. and relax with a drink and a treat! SO not gonna happen. Everything takes me too long to waste time doing nothing.:(
- Have we located sacks for presents? N/A
- Bake some mince pies and tarts etc.. yummies!!! I know it's a bit late but if I can do it then you can too
N/A- we have sufficient food for the time being.
- Sort out the plan for christmas eve.. shop runs, present drop offs etc N/A
- Prepare veg for christmas dinner .. store covered in cold water overnight, it will be fine! N/A - Plan is for Mr LW to do the veg (pots, carrots and 'snips) while I cook the Qu0rn fillets and do the wine sauce
- Mix yorky pud batter for tomorrow and pop in the fridge overnight .. it is so much better if you leave it to stew.. quick whisk as use as normal N/A - not having Yorkies, as we will have sufficient dins without.
- Prepare any other bits.. stuffing, salad etc. Make starters before bed.. sneaky but a great idea! N/A
- Wash pots before bed! This WILL be done; I loathe coming through to last night's washing up.
- Bath time to wear everyone out.. No - we have our daily bath in the mornings, because it's quite a difficult task for me, and actually tends to wake me up!
- Final clean out of pets/litter trays etc No litter tray - walkies for Lizzie!:o
- S&S the kitchen Will do; I really want to give the draining rack a good clean, noticed earlier it could use it.
- S&S the bathroom Will do; should be easy as it had a good scrub yesterday.
- Straighten the tree It's fine - it's only a tiddly one, on my desk.
- Prepare eggnog, mulled wine or other festive beverage N/A - I think we have all the ingredients for a Sea Breeze available as I've been drinking cranberry juice to treat cystitis, and always have grapefruit juice in the house for brekkie, so we can make that as and when we want it.
- Get the roll of binbags at the ready N/A - don't anticipate any more rubbish/recycling than usual
- Set up the video & camera!!! Fully charged and ready to roll!! Camera is ALWAYS to hand when I have a canine guest.;)
- Quick whizz over the clutter and carpets.. No clutter; will do the carpet when Mr LW gets in and can entertain Lizzie for a bit (she dislikes the vacuum)
- Relax, enjoy yourselves and have a lovely time with your family!! There's just us two and Lizzie, so we shall enjoy a nice quiet time, I hope.:D
- If it isn't done now you don't need it to be done it isn't important! I'll drink to that!
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Monday Mayhem
- Make sure you have all the shopping you need to take you through to next week.. milk and bread especially! It is Bank Holiday on Thursday so some shops are not open.. the big supermarkets are.
- Make sure the last of the presents are nearly wrapped. I will not have people sitting up into the early hours on Christmas morning wrapping!
- Have we located stockings?
- S&S the kitchen
- S&S the bathroom/s and loo's
- Make sure your timetable for christmas day is sorted and everyone knows their tasks.. who is spud peeling? Who is stuffing the bird etc..?
- Phone someone you 'forgot' to post a card/present to in time.. just so they know you've not forgotten them...
- Change pet bedding and wash blankies etc.. we don't want them putting you off your christmas sprouts!
- Dust round the whole downstairs
- Have a crazy HHC decluttering downstairs
- Children... quick.. tidy your rooms you don't want Santa thinking you don't look after your stuff.. he might not leave any presents!
- Vacuum through downstairs.. and the stairs!
- Mop the kitchen floor!
- Get rid of the washing up.. delegation is good!
- Get out any special christmas crockery and make sure it is all clean and nice to use.. placemats etc too!
- Declutter your desk.. or anywhere else that has all your paperwork on.
- Hopefully you have had a skim through the TV guide and decided what you want to watch.. it saves missing bits of stuff if you know what is on and when!! If not then make 5 minutes to do it today. Don't forget to make time for Queenie!
- Toy boxes can be banished upstairs!
- Tidy up coats and shoes and suchlike
- WRAP WRAP WRAP!
- Spend at least half an hour doing something for yourself.. reading.. relaxing.. goggling... remember you are important too.

Need to take Tiny to the Drs at 4 as her eczema is terrible, she's taking chunks out of her face. Other than that I will be plodding along.
Merry Christmas and a Happy new year to everyone, saying it early just in case people don't come back on.

Feel so sorry for all those without electricity or in fear of flooding.
Wrapping complete (except for one thing for DH - HB electric toothbrush too half price in Mr W)
Mr W had lots of food which I expect will be reduced, debating if/when to pop down and take a look. Stinking headache atm so need to eat something and take some ibups as parrots had no effect at all.The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Thankfully the worst here so far is just my whirligig cover ripped to shreds. I've just retrieved pieces from the garden and binned it all, plus put said whirligig in the shed to make sure it doesn't end up as a javelin
Merry Christmas to you and yours. Think that might be me done for a day or two now. XBossymoo

. Will go and shower in an hour and then get my uniform on. Finished the Tunis cake this morning. Had a  moment when I pulled out two of the chocolate bars and saw they were BBE feb/13! It looks and tastes fine though. Just a bit brittle to snap.
Am hoping tonight is not awful. Last year we had a really busy Christmas with very sick people. It's terrible for the poor families at this time of yearso I'm hoping that we just have "walking wounded". It will make our night boring and long but it's better for the others
.

Thanks, HB. Fortunately the shoulder pain was not too bad during the day, but every night in the past 6 months has been agony, even with medication. A good night's sleep makes me a different woman! But I have plodded on regardless and done what I can.
Today I have been hanging pictures and am desperately trying to tidy the lounge so that I can take a photo of it before we put up the tree, but DH is still sorting out which of our 3 DVD players to connect to the TV and cluttering up the shot :rotfl: I want to make a "Our House - Before and After" photo book for DH's birthday at the end of January.
This afternoon I rang DD; DGS1 read me his letter from Father Christmas and promised to tell me lots of Christmas jokes when they come here on Friday, and DGS2 is just very excited about everything. Lovely to hear :j
Love and best wishes to all :santa2::xmastree::rudolf:0 -
Kaz hope the night pans out well and thank you for providing such a service on Christmas Eve. DS3 was allowed to by a £60 turkey for £5! Gave my neighbour's son a £5 too to get her one,if she doesn't want it I'll portion and freeze it. I now need to freeze the small ones I bought, wish I'd held my nerve but still great bargain.
Need to start prepping PiBs now and making mincepies. DH home early so he can help/get DS2 from work at 7pmThe birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0
