Silly Silly Daddies!!!

It was probably just a misguided attempt at humour. I think you both need to get a grip.0

It would be really helpful if the OP could explain what this 'silly, silly daddy' is like with his daughter for the rest of the year.
Does he have regular access?
Does he usually treat her as a teenager?
etc etc
On the bare bones of information provided it seems like a lot of posters are having difficulty understanding both the child's and adult's problems about this card.
And the OP still hasn't enlightened us:Goodness.. what a lot of replies...
yes last night was a bit of a rant... as I never say a word in front of any of my 'babies' about thier silly daddy! (I know for sure that I am not the only person who refers to exes as silly daddies! its a bit more polite than what i really do call himbut that would fill the page with stars
)
We have been seperated for 10 years, so I have had lots of similar occasions to this one over the years... I think that maybe she has reacted in a bit of a huff about the peppa pig card! She would have been very happy with a my little pony card

Really?
Lots more to this than the OP has said.
I think - whether intentionally or subconsciously - she's colouring this 'baby's' idea about her 'silly, silly Daddy'.
Load of fuss over nothing, IMHO.0 -
Or maybe 'silly daddy' often complains how much his children act like babies, and this was a sarcastic way or reminding her how he feels.
Because OP has decided not to come back, we don't know.0 -
I am back.... I wasnt chosing to not, but am poorly with bronchitus just now, and sleeping a lot!
Niether of my girls have the best relationship with their father, but that is not for airing on here... Lets just say things went wrong about 5 years ago, and things are strained between them.
I have tried my best to get bridges mended, but sometimes you just cant, and I get frustrated and rant as I did the other day! Its very hard to be a parent to stroppy teenagers who tend to blame the person who is here all the time!
He doesnt have very much contact with my girls, he texts my eldest now and then, but youngest doesnt have a phone just now, and he choses to not phone the landline!
Sometimes there is just no being right!
I hope this answers some of questions....

Sounds like what ever type of card he got, the daughter would find fault with it and use it as a reason to get huffy about himEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Sorry you are unwell OP. things that are really normal or insignificantly niggly can be easy to get blown out of proportion, and bronchitis is horrid.
Cannot one of your teens knock some supper together tonight and take care of you?0 -
Firstly be grateful that daddy sent a card, part time fathers and men in general are always being slated, and I for one is pretty fed up over it, the key word is part time, how often does he have contact? because 2 weekends out of a month is little time, to see how your children are developing, that being said, daddy could of rung to ask what she was into if he didn't know, but so many dads are scared to ring their ex's for fear of being accused or labelled something.0

.... ungrateful child. Yes the card wasn't really appropriate for her but at least he made an effort. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
