The Christmas present that you never got.

I desperately wanted a pair of the Clarks 'Magic Steps' shoes - the ones with a key in the sole. Unfortunately the didn't make them in a wide fitting and I never got a pair

I had these! (Mum got them when we were bridesmaids and needed white shoes!) Lord only knows how as I've got wide feet!
I always wanted a Mr Frosty and a something that I think was called a Secret Surprise Mirror, made by Tomy? It was a plastic jewellery box and mirror that use to light up to show some plastic jewellery behind the mirror!0 -
A magic 8 ball! I finally got one from my DH for my 20th I think.

I guess I must've been very lucky. I didn't get a lot of presents as we had a small family and my parents (like me) didn't believe in going berserk at Christmas, but I tended to get the thing I asked for. Some of the longed-for items I actually got were a Tiny Tears, Spirograph, a canvas wendy house and a Stylophone

I had a pair of them! The ones with the princess advert on the TV!
Also had a pair of clarks tic tac toes, or what ever they were called, with the little puzzle game in the sole (where you had to role the ball through a maze)
Why did Clarks stop doing such epic kids shoes????
The thing that I wanted and didn't get was a Babytalk doll!
Remember being totally gutted on Christmas morning

I really wanted a bike, but as a particularly accident-prone child my parents decided it wasn't a very good idea. Grudgingly, I suppose they were right. I'd like to say I grew out of my clumsiness, but sadly I'm now an accident-prone adult.0

I desperately wanted a pony. Never got one.
For several years WH Smith used to run a competition to win a pony. For weeks after the closing date, every day when I came home from school I would be praying there would be a letter from them telling me I'd won. Of course there never was and eventually I'd give up hoping for the letter after 2 or 3 months. I wonder how many other kids went through the same heartache each year.
If I'd won it, I'd have been allowed to keep it, but I wasn't bought one even though we could have afforded it.Make £2026 in 2026

I also wanted a Mr Frosty and never got one

I was quite spoiled as a child as ours was one of the few families where both parents worked so we had disposable income.
I think I pretty much got everything I asked for so can only think the reason for not getting Mr Frosty was not the cost but the mess it could make?
Parents were very good at not being sexist and so I had lego, a skateboard and a remote controlled car.
I always wanted the fisher price garage with the helter skelter road and the lift. I never did get it but then I'm not sure I ever asked for it - I must have been very young when I wanted one.
I think the only real disappointment I had at Christmas (apart from getting dodgy jumpers that were more mum's taste than mine!) was when my parents decided to go all retro and get all wooden toys. I'm sure they spent more than they would have on the plastic tat I would have wished for but opening a present to find you had been given a wooden top and whip was utterly devastating. I remember thinking that I hoped my smile and thank you sounded far more sincere than I felt them :rotfl:
Ooh yes, the fisher price garage and the tree house were my absolute favourite toys,ever.0 -
