So... you're looking to buy a games console based on how it looks rather than its games library?

Well its surely a criteria for some?
I was just surprised at the size difference
my stuff is in a unit behind smoked hlass .so it matters little

It just seems a bit odd to me. Like, let's say somebody loved how the Panasonic 3DO, or the Apple Pippin looked, and picked them over a ps1 based on looks rather than games library, you'd have had people who picked an expensive unit with which they can do nothing, over something that would give them their money's worth of entertainment.

I dunno, I'm a functional guy more than anything. My TV, consoles, sound systems and computers are arranged to work best, and while it is a mishmash of cables and pretty ugly, it means I can use them and at the amount I spend on this sort of stuff I want to use it to the best of its ability, not have a pretty monolith I never use.

Not that there will be much difference between either console's games library because they are so similar that ports will be common... but a halo fan who only wants to play halo would be a fool to pick up a ps4 based on its looks alone.

I imagine, more than anything, is that when you have the XB1 and the PS4, which in reality are very similar, something like a box may be a contributing factor.

For me, it'll come down to the eventual exclusives..... Yes, they'll be very very similar, but for me it'd be:

The last guardian or Gears of war.
    Forza or GT
    halo or killzone

If I didn't get my indy fix on the pc, would I look more towards PS4's indy support, or be after the licensed famous XBLA games? (I anticipate that Jonathan Blow's new game -- the name of which escapes me right now -- will show up on pc eventually, but that's a compelling tick for ps4)

    That sort of thing.
  • I literally only went for the PS4 after the DRM scandal. I just have no trust in Microsoft after that. I was massively pro-Xbox before

I won't be buying either until late on this year at the earliest, though I expect it will probably be around this time next year. I have had PS Plus for a while now so I expect them when I do buy one of them it will be the PS4 given that I will have a games library ready to go on it without buying any extra games in hardcopy, which is a massive bonus. Realistically I will probably own both eventually, but it's most likely that it will be the PS4 first at this point.

Do you mean PS+ games that you've downloaded on PS3?

I do not. Or at least as far as I'm aware you cannot play PS3 games on a PS4 whether in digital or disc format. I'm referring to the fact that I'm purchasing all free PS4 content from PS Plus through the store website every month, so it'll be ready to download when I do eventually get a PS4. I made a thread a few days ago about it in this forum. Excellent bonus for those who have PS Plus on a PS3 and may eventually want to get a PS4.

All they need to do now is release a ps4 with a big enough hard drive, or external storage support (if they have not enabled it yet).

Indeed, though of course you don't have to download all of the games at once. There's always the option to keep some on the download list until you want to play them, which is admittedly not ideal.
