Please identify a consistent way to spend Clubcard points where the genuine value is four times the marked price.
I never offered a consistent way (and said "to me"), but I buy a Merlin annual Pass every year, last year with unlimited soft drinks all season for a little over £40 of clubcard vouchers. Current price is £159.0 -
Hi jaded1
The headline rate of 3.7 per cent is an average only and is based on our standard variable tariff across all regions.
Actual increases may well be different depending on a customer's individual circumstances. Things like metering set ups, specific tariffs, payment arrangements, usage, region etc will all influence the overall increase. Some customers will pay more than 3.7 per cent, some less.
I'm afraid, though, the letter you've received was printed before the Government announced changes in the social and environmental programmes. These changes have enabled us to keep the price increase lower than originally intended.
The price increase advised in the letters doesn't include these reductions. As a result, the actual increase you'll see will be lower than the one advised. On your tariff, this will be passed on via a lower standing charge.
Consequently, the figures you've posted will now be as follows.
Daily Standing Charge for conventional meter: 27.395p to 26.019 - 5 per cent decrease.
Day rate: 16.622p per kWh to 17.021p per kWh - 2.4 per cent increase.
Night rate: 6.972p per kWh to 7.172p per kWh - 2.86 per cent increase.
Heatwise rate: 7.382p per kWh to 8.694p per kWh - 17.77 per cent increase.
Heatwise daily Standing Charge: 11.645p to zero.
I confirm, too, the No Mains Gas Discount and Prompt Payment Discount will go after 18 January 14.
Customers paying with a Monthly Direct Debit will also see changes. Instead of a percentage discount, these customers will see a monetary adjustment. This will be applied via a lower Standing Charge.
On the Heatwise tariff, the Standing Charge for customers paying with a Monthly Direct Debit will be lowered to 16.422p per day.
With the meter, if it's due to be changed under the manufacturer's guarantee, this will be done without charge. However, customers requesting a different meter outside of this will be asked to pay for this to be done. We're currently charging £51.06 for this type of change.
Hope this is of interest.

E:ON (Previously Norweb, TXU Energi & Powergen) have offered TESCO Clubcard Points for the last 13 years! You should see what they use to offer the staff in order to get Gas and Electric Sales from Jo Public - we had a catalogue of goodies to choose from - I got two coffee makers and a TV!0

(BTW, OP, have you plugged your own usage into the figures to work out what your actual increase is? Superficially looking at the figures I would say a typical Heatwise user is facing an increase of less than 6%.)
but if they have to use less fuel because of raising prices why should the percentage increase be expressed as a percentage of the users usage.
If I buy a pint of milk and the next day it has increased in price by 50%, theat's a 50% increase but when it comes to fuel they are crafty, they increase the unit rate and/or standing charge, but in stead of giving the price in crease on the unit price, they give it as a percentage of how much more the person is paying, which covers up the fact that yes the person might only be paying 3% more on their bill, but that's because they have to use 7% less fuel.0 -
