Only the queen ants survive, by hibernating over the winter, the worker ants all die. Ants are not active during the winter.

  • Do what I did - get some cavity wall insulation installed over winter. It seems to have solved the problem for me.

The Nippon ant traps are good , put one down close to where they're coming in, they eat the stuff and take it back to the nest and it kills them all.
I used them a couple of years ago and have had no trouble since.

I had this installed last year but a few weeks ago the ants were still there, might invest in the ant traps mentioned

We put tesco ant killer down but want to know how long before it washes away? We have small children and are worried about when it will be safe for them to go into the garden again!

    Thanks for any replies...
