I had problems with an internal ant's nest (kitchen wall) and used Wilkinson's own brand liquid spray very successfully - and killed any other insects eg woodlice too. What I really liked though is that I used it with very young children and a cat and no harm done! Also it's clear so no one can tell you've a problem - unlike ant powder.

I wish you luck (or you could move North)

If you can find the nests, then you can soak with the the 'Ant stop', it will kill them full stop, unfortunately, mine are coming from under the patio, and getting in under the teeniest gap from the skirting board to the wooden floor.

I'm going to wait till they have finished, and get some decorators caulk and caulk a line so it seals the gap, for next year.;)

One big one is under the step at the back door, no way is that moving. The other is under another set of steps (but may be part of the back step group, it's close enough) and the other is away up in the far corner and is probably under the tarmack at the access round behind the garden, not so bothered about that one.

Just the one on my back step!

The eviction last night didn't work, they were back out in force this morning. Got some ant baits set out and will get some ant stop soon as possible.

Flying ants are out and about today too.

I have to say I detest ants and love killing them....

I've stopped them coming in through patio doors and kitchen window with bait traps though I've spotted a nest on the patio near the car....I'm going to set them alight :O

I know this is an old thread, but didnt want to start a new one!! I have an ants nest on my back patio (thankfully they're not coming inside) yesterday, i used almost a whole bottle of ANTSTOP on the patio and grass, but today have still noticed lots of ants and there seem to be loads of Flying Ants today too, which my dog isnt very amused with. Any ideas how i can get rid?x

Apparently if you draw a line with chalk they dont cross over it, not sure if it works

I treid this when they had set up camp under my cooker to stop them getting into the rest of the house.....it didn't work :(
  • Hi,

I noticed a few weeks ago that there seem to be quite a few Ants in the back garden.

Last week we had a garden party and left the kitchen window slightly open overnight (because we had a bouncy castle connected to the plug socket).

When I came down stairs the next morning, the worktop in the kitchen was crawling with Ants - I had left my sons Birthday cake on the worktop with foil over the top, but when I took the foil off, the cake was covered with Ants

We have been away for 5 days and I only found 1 Ant in the Kitchen today, but when I told my Parents about the Ants they insisted I should call the Council and they will deal with the Ants.

I'm not sure I should be ringing the Council as it doesn't seem to be a big problem. I was wondering if I should just try some kind of Ant Killer from a DIY shop or something. I do have 2 young Children (2 and 4) so would need to be very carefull if using poison etc.

    Help!

    Zippy x

What kind of ants are these? I'm not sure if this particular product is available where you're at, but I had a problem with at least 3 different varieties of ants in my apartment and Terra ant killer has eradicated all 3 types in a matter of days. It's a liquid poison that the ants are attracted to and take home to the nest. Not sure how harmful it is for children so keep it away from them. Hopefully the product is available for you and you can try it!

    Hi,

The line of chalk recommendation is an old wives tale, the only way I have found to get rid of Ant's reliably is sugar.............

Get a bag of sugar and make a trail from their nest to your neighbours front door and hey presto..... no more ants

Works a treat, mind you when my neighbour asked for idea's the other week how to get rid of ants I had to answer carefully :D

noticed alot of flying ants in a room tonight...had a quick poke around and theyre making thier way in where the concrete floor meets the inner wall

ive hoovered them up and put down loads of nippon powder...but i fear if cement /silicone the crack up then they will still live inside the walls and get in somewhere else in the room

is there anything i can squirt in the gap to try and kill them off for good? before sealing the gaps?
  • I used to have this problem until I had cavaity wall insulation. Never had a problem since. It's the end of the ant season, they'll all be dead in a few weeks time, anyway.
