I'm not able to report how much I can save yet as I've still got 4 days until I get paid, though my car had its MOT today and it has only cost me £57 to sort out the bits it failed on. The car was 9 yesterday so I don't think that's bad for its age. The good news is it wasn't the £100's I thought it would cost so that's all extra which will go into my savings.
I'm waiting for my payslip to arrive so I know exactly what backpay I'm getting and where I can put it. I have a rough idea but it will be nice to get the actual figure so I can plan where I'm going to put it and what I'll do with it.Finally bought a homeStarting mortgage £289,500 31.01.19 - Current outstanding £192,984.78/CENTER]Overpayments since 27.03.19: £52,341.430 -

It soon adds up - I empty my purse of all coins daily, and pay it into an account when it's around £100. I don't need to buy things daily so never carry more than £10-20 cash; I prefer to pay by card so I'm only paying for exactly what I buy, instead of frittering."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000 -

Hi all, this thread is giving me some inspiration but as expected, not got much left over after Xmas and I'm still 8 days off payday.
Going on a short break at the end of jan, so will have to buy currency when I get paid but hoping as soon as I get back that I will have some spare and will make a couple of quid on the exchange, then I will post my savings for late jan/early feb.
This year is the first I've really thought about savings properly and although my target is on the tough side for me, it will be good if I get anywhere near it, so I have this thread to thank just for giving me some motivation.0 -
Hello, can I join and be put down for £12k??
Cheating slightly as have just received £5250 last week so 'only' £6750 to go!0 -
I've finally found out what I'm getting in backpay so having done my calculations I'm declaring £4735.19 for this month. £1000 of that is the money I'm hoping to put aside each month from my regular pay. Obviously this is a lot of money that I won't usually be getting so I'm probably going to up my target to £15,500 making it £1k each month from regular pay + backpay, but I'm going to hold back on that for now in case it all goes wrong! It would be amazing if I could make that target by the end of the year though. I'm being pretty frugal but I think I'm leaving myself enough that I won't go crazy and feel like I have no life!
Next thing is to try and make enough from surveys to keep Christmas and birthdays money neutral this year. I'm also a fairly decent sewer which makes me some extra pennies sometimes. I've made several personalised baby blankets for people at work and have some other people who are interested in them. I only charge fabric cost + £10 to make them (which given the time they take to make is nothing really), but it's something that I enjoy so I don't mind.
I hope everyones saving is going well.

I don't handle cash - debit card all the way for me. i kinda do the same thing though - Most nights I transfer extra pennies to my savings account to round down my balance. so say I have £177.89 in my current account - I would normally transfer £2.89 to my savings to make it a round £175 - I've gotten all OCD about itMember #179 -The 'Save 12k in 2014' Challenge £1740/£50000
