I don't handle cash - debit card all the way for me. i kinda do the same thing though - Most nights I transfer extra pennies to my savings account to round down my balance. so say I have £177.89 in my current account - I would normally transfer £2.89 to my savings to make it a round £175 - I've gotten all OCD about it :D

I do this but I round down to the nearest £10. I get quite OCD about it too. I can't wait until I get paid tomorrow as I can then round down and increase my Hamlet fund :D

    Woop! :money:
  • I got a nice surprise whehn I checked my bank account this morning and HMRC had transferred in the £520 tax rebate. This is now safely in the savings account. I get paid next week and am hoping to add more to the savings then.

Its nice to get properly started.

Is it too late to join up too?:)

I will send a pm to the OP too.:A

I have switched from overpaying the mortgage to saving as my husband is having issues with his health so we want a bigger emergency fund.

I am at £6,100 and want to save up to £15,000 so shall I say £9,000 saved in 2014.

To be honest, I assumed that wasn't going to be your total figure for January, so didn't include it? The others have confirmed that that's the final total for the month - that's all I want through the updates form :)

I don't think my £230 will count that I have added already then? Because this was from my December pay and until March/April, I'm only able to save £200 a month due to debts :o
Time to reset the counter! Will be back on the 27th Jan! :p

This month will be massive savings for me as I got lots of extra work over the Xmas period so it should be a big pay packet. Although some months will be under my target so it starts me out in a positive step. Keep going everyone, keep it going. :T

  • It's great to follow everyone's journey! Well done all who have posted so far :T
I have never saved in the past but I feel joining this challenge is setting me up to success, with everyone sharing their progress and keeping each other motivated (and accountable!) :) As I mentioned in an earlier post I finally got a deposit back that I had given up on, the cheque cleared this morning and my signature is updated. That's already 12% of my goal so it's a great start, and as I am living as frugally as I can, I may even have something left from my living costs budget to add to my savings before the month is over :D
