Just put £300 in my ISA :D. Hope to put in another £500 next week xx

Slig ~ Defiantly better to nip into savings instead of overdraft (esp if OD isn't planned), keep in the frame of mind that you can start saving in next few months :) x

My savings have actually gone down since the start of the year :( But slow and steady wins the race; better to use savings than go into my overdraft in the long run. And come February/March I should be able to make some real progress.

Depending on how much overdraft you want, First Direct bank offer you £250 overdraft free; no strings; no catches !

  • £1,400 for me this month - might be a bit over-ambitious so if I have to dip in to it I shall adjust in Feb. Also another £30 in the "Save £365 in a year" pot, but I'm not counting that as it for spending not saving!

I've just rejigged my signature as I've decided not to clear my mortgage by March this year, but will let it run another year. It's only £120 a month at 1% p.a.. So it's more sensible to save, at 5%, the money set aside to clear it. This also gives me more liquid cash I can access if needs be.

It would be great psychologically to get rid of it, but I'm being hard-nosed!:D

  • Pay day for me on Thursday. I am looking forward to declaring my first savings of the year.

I have now opened my Clydesdale bank 4% savings account. On Monday I need to phone them to activate telephone banking and internet banking and then £3000 will be stashed in there for the next year or so earning 4%.
  • can i join please, not sure on a limit but 8k would be a start, I'm saving a minimum of £800 a month normally more. i currently have 16.5k in my Isa and 1k in savings account which im filling up ready for the new Isa year and i would like to get my total to £25k this year which would be great. I'm good at saving and looking for bargains so I'm sure i can achieve.
    Savings so far.
Managed to get savings up to 16.5k in the last two years.

    2014.
just reached 20k savings just 5k more to reach my target of 25k for this year.
Target 5k more but as much as i can really for 2014.
  • Welcome Ross, best of luck with your savings.
  • Doubt I'll be saving much this month, probably only £100/150. Few bills have cropped up, car tax/few payday loans/owe grandad money £120. Next month I'll save at least £800 though for sure!

    We shall see
