Not quite have the final number for January, but it's looking to be ok.. My little monster also had to go to the vet and the poor guy has now endured 2 weeks of ear mite drops :o

On a better note, got £670 from an unexpected source; added that to my £1000 savings per month and rounded up to £1700 + DH will be getting bonus later this month so barring any complications I will more than double my goal this month. :D

Spent a long weekend with the in-laws and must admit I may have bored them with my talk of savings and pensions. However my brother in law did say he would look into setting up a pension so that's a good thing :)

Just to say I will be posting more later on, but I knew before hand that January was not going to be a saving month, February should be the start!;)

Just out of interest where are you saving and what interest rate are you getting?

Have so many pots going now that it's hard to keep up! Just started a Billy-Can interest fund to help me stop smoking (see 2014 challenges at http://frugaldom.myfreeforum.org/). First day today so wish me luck!

Same for me. I plan on kick-starting this properly on 1st February following pay day
  • I planned for January from last year so paid for more or less everything for this month already and I got paid today so I am at £1,600 for the year, with another fortnights pay 2 weeks today....should end the month at £2,600. Brilliant start for January!! But still if I hit £2,600 this month iv still got £12,400 to go. Off to an auction for work tools tomorrow, here's hoping I don't undo all my hard work this far!!

My savings have actually gone down since the start of the year :( But slow and steady wins the race; better to use savings than go into my overdraft in the long run. And come February/March I should be able to make some real progress.
