  • I've saved £300 this month which has gone in my regular saver account. I've also paid off my overdraft which I have had for years and will be in credit the day before I get paid for the first time in ages. The only stick in the mud is that we paid £500 off of our our joint debt this month but we did that from existing savings we have in an ISA so I'm not sure whether I need to be recording £300 as my final savings total or recording a negative amount as our total savings pot has actually gone down by £200. What does everyone think?

If it was savings from 2013 then it shouldn't count imo.

I've just applied for a nationwide account @ 5%AER, so assuming I do/set everything up correctly that will be an extra £100 for the year

    I agree with this :)

Hmm I don't know. Its from a pot of money I have had for a while. I think it was built up in 2012 but I am going to be strict on myself and remove it from my count. My original target was on the conservative side anyway so I should be able to meet my goal anyway (fingers crossed!). Thanks for your replies.

I made a regular payment of £480 into my ISA and am really hoping to keep this up for another 2 payments as I've never managed to fill up my ISA before and I'm quite excited! This should help me get well on my way to achieving my goal.

Thank you all so very much for your kind words. Still a bit shellshocked but I know my mogs both had a very good, very happy (and very spoiled!), life while they were with me.

Had a bit of a boost today, I loaned a family member some money just before Christmas, it was returned today which was sooner than expected, so another healthy amount going toward NZ.

Have saved another £500 for Jan making it £1,000 for the month all up and that's my final figure for January. :)
  • Sorry about your cat sparrer. I lost my wee baby (cat) last month, she was hit by a car and it was just too much for her to try and recover from. She was only just 4 years old. :(

Have got £200 put aside so far for January but will update my official figure at end of the month. Am planning on saving around £500+ per month but have alot I need to pay out at start of year so wont get to keep this amount initially. Once paid off my debts then I will be able to put aside more.
