  • Oh dear, sorry and my number is 108! I will get the hang of this..

Lol, yes, you will! Just a helping hand if you haven't already done it, there's a link to an update form in the first post where you can submit all your details and it's easier for SF to update the spreadsheet using those. By all means continue sharing your progress with us here as well though, most of us do this and it really helps with motivation! :)

  • Thanks Twiggy, I hadn't seen that! I will do it now. I think I will keep writing here to because as you say it helps with the motivation!

  • £1150 for September (submitted the form). This has been helped by the fact that I was on holiday for quite a bit of it, which had all already been paid for :)

83% of the way to go, and due to overlapping job contracts (large amount of holiday/TOIL to take during leave period), the next month should be a bumper one for savings

    Thanks Slowlyfading :)

Hi, Just want to say that I am dropping out for this year as we are going to dip into our savings to redo our home a bit so I think staying with the challenge won't really make any sense.

I will probably be back next year if we all do it again.

Glad that you made a decision on decorating, 115K. Enjoy! And we'll see you next year no doubt :)

Only £500 this month, it's been a very spendy one. Car tax, insurance, breakdown cover, service and MOT. Also £1500 for house painting and repairs requiring a scaffold. Luckily, a big chunk of that had been set aside in my Outgoings pot that I don't count as savings.

And I did something really reckless and spent £800 on a piece of secondhand jewellery, but I've had a bit of overtime and expenses that almost cover that :) .

I've got a nice weekend away coming up next week, but I've already pre-paid, so I can relax and enjoy it!

OOOH, what was it? I totally approve of spending on stuff that you love, so that sounds like a good purchase to me! :D

I had a very stingy month and saved £1400 in September, which brings my house deposit to 13.5K.

I'm new to this thread and just realised that you declare your savings for the month at the END of it and not the start! Doh. Obvious really..

    Well done!! :T

Declared £700 for September so currently on £6,500 of my original £7,500 target.

Looking forward to receiving some interest on one of my ISAs tomorrow and also got a large expenses bill to submit for September.

I'm confident I'll have smashed my target by end of October and can increase it to push myself further for Nov and Dec!

September update. Finally it's payday!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm getting more motivated each and every month.

I saved £1,200 this month, which makes my 2014 total (so far) £8,170 and my overall total £82,295. I'm so chuffed

Just calculated that I need to save £3,830 in the next 3 months to make it to £12,000 this year. I can't see it happening! But I will save as much as I can...

It was a 1ct diamond solitaire pendant, Tara. The jeweller said (well he would, wouldn't he :D) that secondhand jewellery is a good buy - no supply chain each taking a profit, no VAT, no "sentimental" premium, and sold at just a bit more than scrap value. And I can always flog it again in the future! :)
