[Deleted User] wrote:Afternoon all. I have spent some time today going through my finances. I have made the decision to resign from my teaching job and finish up at the end of 2014. To this end I would like to have as much as I can saved so I feel at least fairly secure financially. After that we will have OHs wage to live on and hopefully be able to save a small amount each month too.
I will stick with my current target of £14k by end of 2014 but ideally I would like to have more than this.
Wow, what an exciting decision! I wish you all the luck with your new journeyBe who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Its pay day from both me and OH this week so I will need to spend some time sorting finances, probably on Thur evening or Friday afternoon.
Hoping for big savings this month but OH still insists on taking money for his personal training. Need to have a chat with him about the cost of this as I am sure he would balk at handing over £28 every session but because I pay it in a block booking (it would be £30 per session if I didn't block book it) via internet banking I think he is under the impression its free!!0 -

2086.75 this month.. which takes into account of my payrise - woop!
Next month I get 3 months of rent too so is a bumper month... hopefully it will fire me towards my target!
Haven't given up hope yet!!!My Goal: From 1st of Jan 2015 to 31st of December 2015 is to save 30000.
48.78% towards 2015 target.
105.3% towards 2014 target. :j0 -
Had a bit of a dream this month, which has helped to boost to my total...
Got a cheque for £1000 from my grandparents for my birthday which will go straight into savings...
I also worked my backside off doing overtime this month with the NATO summit at work, which means I've brought home an extra £800...
I've put £200 to one side for our long weekend away next month, but the rest has gone straight into the savings coffers!
Finally, my FD regular saver has also paid out this month (I've been counting this as savings each month, so it doesn't add to the total) but got £77 in interest, that will go straight back into the pot!
As always, have saved the usual £600 into my regular saver and friendly society plans...
So, the grand total for this month is £2,300... Such a good feeling!! :T
So, we've shuffled our savings around a bit as a result of a bit if a bumper month...
We've put £2k into a TSB Plus account earning 5% and £5k into Lloyds Club, earning 4% for the time being... I may transfer this into an ISA before the end of the tax year if there's some decent rates on offer... Otherwise, will be looking to maximise interest using this type of current account until we need it for our deposit in (hopefully) a couple of years time!!:T DEBT FREE AS OF APRIL 2013! :T"I am the master of my fate.
