  • Afternoon,

Can't believe that it has been since the 5th July that I last posted on here! Time has flown.

    Bad things:

    CC2 is creeping up
    Should take lunch to work
Kids are still with a childminder
    Can't get into a rountine

    Good things:

CC1 is going down, albeit slowly...we're under the £11k mark now :)
    I'm loosing weight slowly
    I still love my job

Just a quick update whilst I am at work, in between shuffling paper lol

This past two months have been an eye opener and I miss my old routine. So not giving up, a new routine is in order.

So I am stopping drinking again, this did work well last couple of times I did it; I just need to not use it as a crutch on my bad days.

We messed up on the meal planning the past few months, so I am trying to get this back going again...new meal plan has been done for September.

House was blitzed over the weekend and looks a heck of a lot better than it has done, we have been a bit slobby recently.

Now all I need is a plan to blitz the CC's.

    Still fighting!

  • Morning,

A quick update before I head off to school and work.

I can honestly say I hate the train, I seem to be on the delayed or cancelled ones every day.

Anyway have checked the CC's and they currently stand at:

    MBNA - £10,864.91
    BC - £5893.31

    Total now owed: £16758.22

Okay, I knew it was back to being a biggie as the BC has been pounded over the last few months. Now just need to tackle the MBNA one and not put any more on the BC one.

I have a plan...not a cunning one but one that might work. I'm not going to publish it on here in case it doesn't work, but will try and keep on top of it.

    Right off to work.
  • October is lurking around the corner and September didn't quite turn out the way I wanted it to.

The good news is that I am now past my three months probation and all that looks good :j

Now to move on with things and get them moving. To be honest we are stuck in the same old rut we were in a while ago and things will only get worse if I don't sort it out.

Small steps, lead to big steps.

So October....I need/want to achieve the following:

Pay off the water rates - I don't think there's that much left and will free up some money each month.
Take lunch to work - Working on site there is the temptation of the shops and I really need to stop going there.
Meal Plan - Going good so far but need to keep the momentum up.
MOT both cars - Both are due this month, so need to get them booked in.
Housework - I should get the washing up done at night, as I hate doing it when we get home from work and I need to do at least one washing load on a Wednesday to save the hassle of doing it all at the weekend.

I am off from work on the October half term, this will help me as I can get other 'stuff' done that I used to do during the Summer Holidays, but will need to factor in that the kids won't want to be in the house the entire week, so will need to think about taking them out too.

    Right off back to work.
  • Good morning diary,

    Pay day today :D

Travel card bought for the month and various other bills paid.

DH had to put his travel card on BC this month as it ran out before today, so I've put paid it off the MBNA instead. DH is of the opinion that that will cause the interest on the BC to creep up as it has the higher rate but I'm not that fussed over the BC at the moment as it isn't creeping up that much. The BC has had it's monthly payment and I've rounded it up, if I can I want to pay off an extra £100 this month.

Still sticking with my aims for October, it's going to be interesting to see just how we fair this month.

We are in a better position now than we were at the beginning of the year, we've just got to get our act together and sort the debt out properly.
  • Morning,

Not posted for a while as full time job still getting in the way, which has also resulted in us loosing momentum and the debt is creeping up!

    The MBNA: £10,405.42
    The BC: £ 7,056.61

    Total Debt: £17,462.03

The MBNA is going in the right direction, however the BC has and is creeping up due to car trouble and other stuff.

I can't beat myself up about it, as I keep doing that but it doesn't work....need to learn and move on.

I've managed to pay the remainder of the balance for the water bill, so that helps a bit...the plan next year is to pay it off once it comes in.

I've also managed to reduce the car insurances, so paying off the water bill, helps as the payment a month is the more or less the same so it doesn't mess up the budget that much.

Meal planning going good so far, although we do still have the odd slip up.

I'm trying to be a good girl and take my lunch to work, this needs to be improved up on as going to the office makes it harder!

NSD's they're getting trickier to do, I used to be reasonably good at them...one for improvement next year!

We are in a good position now, especially as we are both working full time, I'm thinking maybe get this year out of the way and start a fresh next year....good news is that March is pay review time and I may get a payrise :D

When I first started today's post, I was thinking about not doing another diary for next year but I think I should as we've got a debt to bust and it won't do it all on its own.

YNAB. By that I mean: You Need A Budget. G**gle it and get a free trial. Lots of people on here swear by it. Your debt is not going to go away without some serious thought beyond meal planning, NSDs, cutting your insurance and however many lunches you take to work. Sorry! Abrupt and harsh cold light of day stuff lies ahead......I know I have been there.

Read this blog. Extreme in some places but fabulous ideas.

    Good luck:)

  • Thanks Igamogam, I totally agree; we've been fighting this debt for far too long now when we should've got rid ages ago.

We do budget, but are careless with the remaining money we have, something we need to get to grips with.

DH had a result yesterday, we got the bill for the TV/Internet package and we also got a flyer through offering a better package for less money per month. Hubby rang up and they've transferred us over to the new package saving us nearly £20 per month :D

Just reading back over my diary from the beginning of the year, we have lost our way and become disillusioned with things.
  • When you get a reduction in monthly outgoings, do you send it elsewhere or does it just get absorbed into the monthly spending pot?
Mortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st 1lb determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. • It does tend to get absorbed back in again. We should pay it off the CC, once Christmas is out of the way, I think I need to seriously take stock and have another look at our budget and work out where we can pay extra off the cards.
