  • Good afternoon and welcome to the Easter Holidays.

Had a very interesting couple of days. One recruitment agency rang me yesterday and another today both are putting me forward for two different jobs but back in the insurance sector :)

First one I'm not too fussed about, as the hours and salary won't suit. The second one, very interested and fairly local and more money than the first one and sounded more positive that I'd get an interview with.

Apart from childcare, which I will need for the morning and the evening, we should have a bit more money than what I get now and once DD goes to high school, the cost of needing the childcare will reduce and we will then have even more money.

Feeling positive, maybe 2014 will be our year.
  • Good morning,

I hope everyone had a lovely Easter, back to normality for us tomorrow, kids go back to school and I go back to work.

April has proved to be disastrous, BC has jumped up.

Seriously need to get a grip and sort things out, a bad month is not a good month but need to move forwards. May should prove to be a good month with not so much being paid out, just normal bills.

Have been thinking about a plan for next month and will post that next.

MSE side of things, have managed to save a few 20p's, 50p's and finally got a £2 coin.

Food side of things, haven't stuck to the meal plan this past few weeks and as such we've got plenty in the freezer that I can use up.

Pay day for me on Thursday and for DH the week after.
  • Okay dokey, so May is nearly upon us, one of the quieter months for a change with no major bills to come out.

I've decided that I need to restart my diet, I'm now tipping nearly 12 Stone and I can feel that I'm not healthy.

Drinking is also coming back with a vengeance, so that is also an area I need to tackle this month. I feel lousy and I know its the alcohol.

Our 10th Wedding Anniversary is coming up this month too :D so would like to do something nice for that.

NSD's need to get started again.

I've applied for a cooks job at a school local to me, I'm hoping that my boss will give me an interview. The school is a smallish school and would be ideal as a starter for me. The hours would be good and so would the money but we'll see, the closing date is today so keeping my fingers crossed.

DH's climbing club starts at the end of April on a Tuesday for 10 weeks so that'll help with the NSD's as its already paid for and can take drinks with us to the centre.

May will be better than April, I'm hoping!!
  • Morning Diary,

Well that's it! End if the Easter holidays and back to normality again :D

Feeling very focussed this morning and determined to make May a better month than this one.

I've downloaded and app for my iPad mini which means that I can update my spread sheet rather than getting out the laptop every time.

Diet has also restarted today and I'm hoping that I will loose something and feel better about myself.

Things to be done the rest of this week is NSD's and AFD's and getting the rest of menu plan done. I need to avoid any unnecessary spend.

Right got to get motivated and get ready for work and school.

Have a good day everyone x

    Afternoon,

Well, after sorting through the CC's the total owed has gone up to £14230.49 Not good and doesn't help with my long term plans for this year!

So as I've been bumbling along this past few months, thinking that I was doing well, I think I need a good kick up the @rse.

I wasn't too bothered about the BC going up initially but I am annoyed. I need to get the MBNA down and I need to get things moving, we're nearly half way through the year !!!!!!.

So I've had a look at the first page of my diary to give me some inspiration; this year was about taking control not the other way around. I know our debt isn't as big as some on here but it will get bigger IF we don't do something about it and soon.

On the upside, I do tend to get things from Tesco only when we need them so I guess that's something I'm getting right...sigh!!!
  • Good morning diary,

    Happy St Georges Day :D:D

Had my first AFD in a long time and didn't sleep properly. I know its because of the lack of alcohol and I know that eventually it will improve if I keep at it.

Was also thinking about the debt and how we can improve it again. We were doing well (I think) and we can get it back down to where we were if we try harder.

Going to see my friend and his wife today, its her birthday today and we've got her a plant (suggested by my friend), she's been in and out of hospital due to her broken ankle and is generally getting frailer :( so hoping the plant will cheer her up a bit.

We have our 10th Anniversary next month and I would like to do something nice, was thinking about a dinner so will get my thinking cap on when I do the meal plan for May.

Money wise ~ We haven't got anything major coming out this month...phew! so we should be able to scrape through May intact.

Aiming for a NSD day, will be good if I can manage it, will be the first of many. Personally aiming for 20 next month, fingers crossed.

Thinking about the debt, I think that once DH see's that it is going down he will be a bit happier. He won't admit it but I think it's getting him down. He knows that I want to get rid or halve the MBNA card then transfer the rest on to the BC, I know he's on board so I don't have to worry about that.
  • Good morning....Pay Day...Wooo hoooo!!!!!

A big help and both CC's have been paid. Once the payments have cleared I can update my signature; I may not be able to halve or clear the MBNA one but will definitely aim to get it under double figures!

I need to pay some of DS's school trip today too, £41 there but got to be done.

Managed a NSD yesterday but not an AFD :( I give up too easily. As a result I feel poo, serves me right I guess.

Aiming for a NSD today, I need to get a top up shop from Tesco's today as we have bits I need but aiming for a low spend shop.

Took the kids to see my friend and his wife yesterday, she loved the plant and is a bit more mobile that I've seen her for a long time...she does however look very frail :(

Have booked an appointment to see the consultant at the hospital to have by umbilical hernia sorted, I had it as a result of being pregnant with DD, she's now 7 years old and there is no sign of it going away. Hopefully the surgeon will get me in quickly and it will get fixed.
  • Oh my what an exciting and hectic day it has been today.

Was at panic stations as we thought we had enough fish in the freezer for both school sites this morning however we only had enough for the lower school, the order came at 11am with the fish that we needed for today and that finally went in the oven at 11.30!!! Once everything had been checked off and sorted.

In between all that, I got a phone call from my boss informing me that she wishes to interview me next Wednesday after service, for the cooks job that I applied for and is coming to the school I currently work at to do it...EEEEKKKKK!!!!! Scared, nervous and excited all rolled in to one :D:D

And my payslip came through the post today and I have been given a payrise :D

IF I get the job at the school I will earn approx. £732 pm which will be a massive boost to the finances and will help massively to reducing the debts.

I had a good feeling about this year and even though it has been a struggle so far, this year may pan out to be a great year.
  • Good morning, it's Friday!!!!! Always a good thing :D

Have checked online banking and so far so good. DH gets paid next week and that's when the big bills come out, will see if my plan for May will work out or not.

Saying that I don't think I've really got a plan as such, just more of an improvement on this month and a hope that it works out.

DH is working at the flying club tomorrow and the kids and I are going to my great-niece's 3rd birthday party.

Spends today are: petrol for the car and birthday present, so should be a LSD all in all.

Yesterday didn't end up as a NSD or an AFD but I'm not beating myself up about it, today is another day.

So busy day at work today, Friday's always are, hoping that is goes quickly though and that the weekend can start :) First full week next week and busy week too.

GRRRRR!!!! What is it with 9 yr old boys???? My DS is a right royal pain in the @rse. He has an attitude like you wouldn't believe and it really annoying. Playing with his Lego, but making lots of noise, I've asked him and told him to quieten down and he's just ignored me, third time I'd had enough and got attitude back so told him to put it away, major 2yr old strop.
