LJ, good luck, long time since I bought a house and can't remember the process. I haven't actually ever bought a house as such that I have lived in, just transferred a mortgage from firstly parents and then Mr Bugs. Bit tragic getting to nearly 50 and never having chosen your own home.
Woofs to dog dog from my crew, who frequently feel similar about Russels!0 -
Lovely and sunny here too....which part of Suffolk are you from? Upper or lower (trying to be a bit cryptic here :rotfl:)
Having moved less than 10 miles Mr BD is of the view we have gone over to the dark side to a new LA in Central Suffolk (an area somewhat smaller and colder than central America) - he is especially miffed that this LA charges extra for a brown bin for garden waste.:D
Went to register at new GP surgery this morning. Came away with a brown envelope of forms to fill in. And they want photo ID - but only for setting up the facility to book appointments on-line - not for actually registering. Madness.
I use Last Pass for passwords https://lastpass.com/ it's free to download. There is one master password to remember - and it creates and remembers random passwords for web page logins. Wouldn't be without it. I do have a password book for the 'security questions' that banks seem to be so fond of though.
Any news for dog dog LIR?It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Not yet better days. She was first on the surgery list too
. I am guessing it means an emergency must have come in. I have already decided to call if I haven't heard anything by two.

Fingers crossed LIR, it is horrible waiting for news.

The FD bloke kept referring to an agreement in principle but half the time he said he wasn't giving one and the rest of the time he seemed to imply he was. I was too tired to care by the end of the call and I just wanted to get off the phone and eat my dinner!
Might well be a load of nonsense, but I knew I'd read it somewhere:Hi,
First Direct don't really do an AIP. You have to submit a full application, which will then result in a formal offer, which is subject to valuation.
We've been through this process over the last few months, completed on our house two weeks ago. We didn't need an AIP as we were purchasing from family, so didn't need this piece of paper to wave in front of an estate agent / vendor.
If you want to go with First Direct, then just get an AIP from a different provider, preferably one that only does a soft search (e.g. Halifax) which leaves no footprint on your credit file. Then once you have had an offer accepted on a house, make your full application with First Direct.
You can use the tools on FD's website to get an idea of what they will lend you. If you have any debt, remember to deduct 5% of the outstanding balance from your salary to get an accurate idea of affordability.
Either way, you'll find out soon enough, hopefully with the answer you're looking for0 -
Dog dog is AWAKE! but dopey. I can get her later. Some of her bloods were slightly abnormal according to the vet nurse. I'm not too worried because greys have quite different readings to 'average' dogs (healthy for average could be a nearly dead grey and of course, the opposite) . So io want to see them before I decide whether I need to worry. She seems fairly healthy.
I suppose though, the reason one asks for routine blood work to be done Is to pick things up before one notices any impact of them! Well, I'll see later, and decide what to do about further investigation when I see if they are abnormal or simply 'greyhound'.0 -
Ah that' sounds good if you can go and get her. Couple of mine over the years have had various levels that have been out of kilter, but never had a bother. I tend to view those levels as a guideline often, rather than a definitive.0

're books, unless you can get your hands on some decent crates, the tricks with books is to use smaller boxes than you would for other stuff. Try to keep to a max weight of 10kgs if using cardboard and make sure you don't buy the cheap packing tape that has the sticking power of post it notes. Boxing up books is one of my specialist subjects:oPlease stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Yep, later today.
Readings are to be right for individual and I'm not going to fix a problem that doesn't exist, but I would like to be aware if choices I am making might exacerbate the onset of one IYSWIM.
Anyway, we'll see.0 -
Beginning to think the number plate is not a good idea, too easy for a hacker to stroll past while your car is parked outside.
We once got burgled because my handbag was stolen at work in central London and I had address labels in my handbag. They traveled to my home to use the keys to enter the house. We assume they couldn't drive because my car keys were also in my handbag and the car parked outside the house.
My number plates are for cars I had over 20 years ago, and I join them together, so you would need a hacker willing to go into the depths of the DVLAs legacy systems for cars that have been long scrapped to work it out. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
