I make a fair bit of ice cream, perhaps every couple of months or so.

I made a Xmas pudding ice cream once with rum and dried fruit and all spice. It was jolly good even if I say so myself.

I should probably have a few goes with vanilla before I try anything more exciting.

I am trying to continue on the weight loss them, so the ice cream ingredients nearly gave me a heart attack just looking!

MOOCs are what you find on Coursera. MOOC stands for Massive Open Online Course. I think MOOCs are particularly interesting and we are in the very early stages of them. That's why I think there should be a separate thread for them, the question is where it belongs. We have an money saving old style thread but not a money saving new style thread.

There is already early anecdotal evidence that taking MOOCs is good for your CV. It shows an interest in continued learning in your own time.

Coursera is not the only MOOC provider. At the same time as this MOOC, I am doing another one on a Coursera rival called edX, this one is called Library Advocacy Unshushed.

There's also a consolidated list of MOOCs here:
    http://www.mooc-list.com/

I find the MOOC concept fascinating, both in terms of the capacity to learn new things and the economic challenge that it presents to the traditional educational establishment going forward, with potential for paradigm shift in the way adults are educated.

It looks bad but it is proper food so it's satisfying and fills you up. A small bowl of home made ice cream doesn't leave you craving more in the way that a handful of sweets or a small chocolate bar do.

I like the idea of making ice cream, but it sounds like it'd do my diet no good whatsoever.

I make Christmas pudding by hand some years. Its nicer, IMO than Christmas pudding.
