I think the loading/ unloading is the least worst part of the process for me.
Judging by the amount of stuff which is still waiting to be unpacked in my 'dining' room, I'm not that great at unpacking. Judging by the state of the packing, I'm not that great at packing either (always starts off well, then ends up with things being shoved in bags as I run out of time).
You're not the only one. And I've been in my house a lot longer than you've been in yours.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
OK, so now that our lovely new thread is ready for us all to settle in, is there any packing and tidying to be done here before we leave it completely?
I am off out to buy gardening gloves for some friends who say they lent me theirs that I have taken so long to return that I have entirely forgotten borrowing them.Although I have at least found their seccateurs (both pairs of them) so I don't need to buy replacements for those.
There's such a range of gardening gloves out there it can be quite hard to choose for someone else. I have some lovely golden leaf thinsulate ones I treated myself to a winter ago, and some summer weight pink ones my colleagues bought me for a significant birthday a couple of years ago. They just mould to your hand in use0 -
There are still two packing boxes in my front room, on top of a blanket box. They are the perfect height for the gravel tray which many of my seedlings go onto in spring... I think they're a permanent installation now; perhaps I should paint them to match the room?!0

People finish unpacking?0

I'm thinking of tackling our pyracantha. Does anybody have any suggestions for suitable armour? We have about 20 feet x 6 feet x 2 feet of the ghastly stuff. I'd enjoy getting my revenge on it by feeding it into a garden shredder (a large one) but I'm not sure how to get close enough to it to cut it down?No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

We're planning on getting the digger driver to do ours, any good?
The original plan was going in closer and closer with sacateaurs then pruning saw.....but we got distracted. Now its a mass of bramble too...:o:o0 -

I've written to the solicitor to ask for after 1 May, as an ISA matures on the 1st, & I want to use those funds. My ideal time would probably be 6 May (after than bank holiday).
Boy I can relate to this!
Then I definitely won't be assisting. If it were now, I'd come sailing up and make the tea and "supervise" AKA tell everyone else what to do. 6th May being a few days before Eathelbald is due, I won't even be doing that! Very best of luck, LJ.
OH and I followed my parents' advice about surveyors - you have a long chat to them on the phone, ask what they would be concerned about if they were buying it, and if it's worth it for the money bearing in mind what definitely needs fixing, and what might need it. When it came to our current flat, the surveyor said it needed a fair bit doing, but was a great buy for the price, so we went for it.Couldn't have fillings without an anaesthetic ( but most of my fillings are deep). Once had the misfortune to go to the cinema to distract myself from the dental appointment I was facing the next morning. The movie I saw was "the Marathon Man"!
I've reached the grand old age of 35 without needing any fillings yet <touch wood>. I did do the adult teeth out for overcrowding and braces as a teenager, though.CKhalvashi wrote: »I'd like to do one at some point, but as you asked first, I think it's your turn, Doozer

Sorry CK, the NPs have sexual discrimination. Women and girls only, until they've all done one, then the blokes can have a turn.I think the loading/ unloading is the least worst part of the process for me.

we moved in over two years ago, and have several boxes lurking that aren't unpacked yet....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

yet.
I have fillings..
I think I need another now actually. I also have a dodgy front tooth which should get a veneer, but I don't feel the need for it yet.
I like my teeth but my child hood dentists in us would scream I missed braces here I think. I have a bottom tooth DH calls. ' the independent one' who is somewhat gappy and I have very pronounced bottom mamelons. I don't mind, I have the idea they look youthful :rotfl:.
I actually am ground of my teeth, far from perfect, individual, but not heinously so. I like that. Really odd teeth with faux perfection look a bit odd and off centre to me.0 -
I probably need to bite the bullet and get some teeth removed... but I am scared of the dentist. Not for the normal reasons, but because with Factor V Leiden there's a risk from any surgery, however mild (and it emphatically includes anything the dentist does), of blood clotting and another DVT.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Ouch - that sounds diffcult, tomterm. Can you reduce risks by going to a dental hospital instead? Would that help?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
